Sheesh, shocked at these numbers, we're unmetered and the bill for all water and sewer was £253 this year, with Severn Trent too...maybe I won't move...

We are a family of four and our payments are £30 per month. I have the hippo water savers in all 3 toilets, use eco setting on washer whenever possible and have water saving widget in shower head. Otherwise we have normal usage. We are in Yorkshire.

We are a family of 4 in Yorkshire and pay approx the same, quarterly bills work out between 80-90 pounds. We dont waste water but also dont scrimp with it.

I've just moved from a two bed terrace to a three bed semi in the same town and my rateable value has more than doubled to £46pm. There are four of us, two adults and two small children. Maybe trialling a meter is the way forward for us.
  • Chambta. Personally I wouldn't. Based on mine and others experience here, it could well prove to be more expensive and personally I'd value knowing what your bill is and that you won't be somehow drastically underpaying. Or like me now, worrying if I am staying too long in the shower or becoming the water police around the house.
  • We are on a meter with Severn Trent, I've just opened the DD letter and its has gone down to just £11 a month :) The last meter reading we had showed us considerably in credit so that probably explains it, and it'll probably go back up again next year, but in the mean time it cushions the gas/electricity increase.

By the way, why do Severn Trent operate an 11 month year. The DD review gets a month earlier every year.
  • Hi all.

I currently got an unmetered bill from Thames Water of £463 for a two bedroom flat at W5 in London. I was told that if I switch to a meter, the bill will be significantly lower. I would like to ask if I could get a refund for the months that I have already paid or even for the previous year. If Thames Water refuse, does it worth to complain to CCWater or OFWAT? Do I have a case? Thanks for your help.

Short answer is no..You have no case and CCW or OFWAT will not get involved.
You have the right to apply for a meter at any time and until you do the RV of the property is the correct rate of charge.
    There is no complaint ...sorry
