Someone drove into me

Hi All
On 4th July whilst at traffic lights a woman hit me from behind(I was just about to move off as the lights had turned green).
She left her car and came round to me apologised, asked if I was OK and said it was her fault, she was looking for something on the floor and was in a rush as she had to get the kids to school.
I duly reported this to my insurers(Prudential) who arranged to have my car repaired and for a courtesy car to be provided....so far so good.
Then on 7th July I had a phone call from Prudential saying she had made a counter claim for injuries to her son who had bruising. and that I had reversed into her!
Since then I have not heared a thing from Prudential and in fact all I know is from when I phone them for updates.
I have been pestered by these no win no fee merchants who will not accept that I do not have any injuries. I am £200.00 out of pocket(my excess) and am not about to to cave in and say I reversed as I didn't.
Wheb I asked Prudential if I should have a solicitior they just say that they are acting for me,but so far don't seem to be doing very much and that "these things take time"
I have now had a letter from DWP saying that I may owe same tax as I have made a claim for whiplash (I haven't). DWP say that the details came from Prudential,Prudential say it wasn't them!
I am at my whits end and do not know what I should do next.
Should I insist that Prudential get me a solicitior or just wait and see what happens?
I think they will try to make me take 50/50 just to put an end to things
Has anyone any advice or who has found themself in a similar situation?
Thanks in advance

Disputed liability does take a long time to sort out.
You cannot insist on a solicitor being appopinted by your insurer.
But if you are using any "legal expenses" add on type insurance to reclaim your excess, then they are the ones you should be chasing over this - and they will have access to a solicitor.0 -
Did you have legal cover? If so, that should mean you are insured to get a legal beagle on thwe case.
Sounds rather dodge though. can't quite work it all out from your post but perhaps a chat with the ombudsman?
5t.What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -

This. As long as you have legal cover just let it ride and it will get sorted out eventually. Hopefully someone will look at the damage to both cars fairly quickly and come to the correct conclusion.
However it can take months in a dispute between insurance companies before you will hear anything, especially when there are solicitors for both sides involved.
Just leave them to it and hope the correct verdict comes through

Like the others have said; it'll take a while to sort out.... the woman is making some noise and not accepting that it's her fault so it's just taking some timeSad_traveller wrote: »I have been pestered by these no win no fee merchants who will not accept that I do not have any injuries.
which is the wrong answer. The correct answer is that you've already made a claim.
The more you tell them that you're not injured, the more they know there's a possible claim still out there. Somebody might be able to talk you into claiming so it might as well be them! i had somebody phone today about a claim from an accident; i just told them that i've claimed for every accident i've had. She apologised and advised that she'd update their system0 -

What does this letter say because the DWP don't collect tax the HMRC do.0 -

first of all thanks to everyone for their replies
Letter from DWP says:
You have submitted a claim for compensation in relation to an incident/injury that occured by law all claims to compensation have to be registered with the compensation recovery unit. This dept is responsible for checking wether any social security benefits have been paid to you as a direct consequence.
I have since written to them and have got proof of delivery,so hopefully they'll leave me alone!
I also wrote to my insurance company (with POD) on 22nd Aug and as yet (08/09) have not had any response.
I am now getting heartly sick of the whole matter.
I have "protected" no claims,so that should be OK,but my insurance is up for renewal in Dec and I don't want to renew while this is going on.

Will the last person of honour leaving the country please turn the lights off.0 -

Is your claim against the other drive for damaging your car the claim which they are talking about?0 -
Hi All
At long last I have received details from the solicitors appointed by my insurers. The other party are claiming that I went accross the traffic lights ,saw they had changed and reversed into her!
Far too late (three months ) for any cctv. The solicitor that is now dealing with the claim seems to be moving at snails pace and my insurance is due in December. Do I have any comeback on my insurers for leaving it so late to tell me of the exact details of the other party's claim?
It was such a small bump and she is not claiming for damage to her car just "personal" injuries for her self and son (in the back.)
The solicitor seems so laid back and just waiting for me to accept 50/50 which will be a fault claim on my insurance!
Thanks in advance
regards

I know this isn't much help but your story really frustrated me.
Seems this world is full of horrible, malicious, two faced people and they seem to always be better off for being that way.
I hope everything sorts out in your favour and karma catches that horrible woman.0
