Selling car on ebay, guy just emailed coming from the midlands (we are in Kent) he says we should meet him at watford junction train station as it half way? Do we have to? I have replied that due to work and timings not sure that is possible and that maybe it would be better if he could get a friend to help him out, just bluffed my way out of it but surely we do not have to 'accomodate him' he knows clearly where the car is listed as it says on the ebay listing, if he comes from the midlands to pick it up is that our problem?

You don't have to but if he is covering your costs and you can do it without too much hassle, then why not? I think he is asking to save himself the nightmare of the M25. Think of it as a ride out paid for by someone else. The last car I sold on Ebay I sold to a guy in Ipswich and met him halfway at Peterborough.
And no, its not your problem where he comes from - that is for him to worry about.0 -
I've sold tens (prob nearly a hundred) cars and vans on ebay and often meet people half way with no problems. all I ask is that they send a paypal payment, marked as a gift for £100 which will be knocked off the balance of the car and if they dont show I will have for my time. no one ever objects to this as you are accomadating them. Also you may suggest to your buyer he gets the train to the local station and you meet him there?0

No, you don't have to.
But you could ask him to meet all your costs (petrol / train etc) and maybe a deposit in case he doesn't turn up.Of course, I may just be talking b****cks!0 -

as said, you dont have to but its common on car sales
however I wouldnt be doing it for any loss!
last car I bought from a distance the seller met me at the carlisle train station which saved me and hour of rurla driving to his house
I covered his ticket home
as long as you have enough fuel in the car then theres no fuel cost(if you get me)
obviously if you need to fuel it then that needs covered0 -
There is no fuel in the car no, it is more the inconvenience, we can't do it this evening at it comes off just short of 11pm, work tomorrow all day until not sure and then from then on we are going away for a long weekend, told him all that he did not reply yet. Hope he ends up being knocked off as the winning bidder.:D0
