Hi
Can someone recommend a new Dell for me please.
We want something with a large HD/memory, as we'll be using it for storing photos etc.
Won't be using it for games.
I don't like Vista, so please don't recommend one that runs on Vista
.
Any questions, please ask.
I'm hopeless at picking such things.
Thanks.

How much do you want to pay?
How big a screen do you want?
Do you mind how heavy it is?
Would you be happy with one from the Dell Outlet?
Why does it have to be a Dell?
Windows 7 is the only Windows operating system you'll be able to buy on a new laptop or PC - not XP, not Vista...0 -
Buy the Dell Latitude business class if you want it to last. The Inspirons don't seem to be doing too well since they moved production from Ireland.0

I want to spend no more than £400.
Screen size: 15 inches
Heavy: not too bothered, as using at home.
Reason I've asked for Dell is because I've got one now and had one in the past.
It's no big deal if you guys think that another make is better for the same price.
Sorry this is the first time I've ever had to choose one myself. In the past someone gave me them, so I just made do... now I have to choose for myself, so am lost!
Thanks.“It was only a sunny smile, and little it cost in the giving, but like morning light it scattered the night and made the day worth living.”

Any chance you could manage with a bit help from here to sort out your old one , and then buy a external drive for less cash , is it working and just slow , just thinking of saving you money.
Failing that I just bought a Novatech and I think it is very well made and brings a smile to my ugly mush.4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Aint no sunshine ☀️ Octopus gas fixed dec 24 @ 5.74 tracker again+ Octopus Intelligent Flux leccy0 -
My old one needs a new Motherboard. I looked at replacing that, but it's around £80 on ebay plus the cost for someone to do.
How much was your Novatech please?“It was only a sunny smile, and little it cost in the giving, but like morning light it scattered the night and made the day worth living.”

photos don't use up much space compared to the size of modern drives, hope you've backed them up?

Ever dealt with Acer support, or PC World?!!

Plus there have been a number of threads on here recently about Acer laptop screens breaking, and the problems getting them fixed under warranty.
How about Dell's Vostro 3550? Spec-wise they're cheaper than the equivalent Inspiron 15Rs, and have a matte screen instead of a glossy one (meaning you won't worry about reflections as much). Basic 3550 is £299 + VAT + shipping, although you can get 10% Quidco cashback. One thing to bear in mind (from memory) is that Dell's business PCs can't be returned under the DSR, as they technically only sell them to businesses (although the only thing they do is ask for a business name, nothing else).0
