Going to Spain next monday need car hire at Alicnate airport, now ive been comparing them and holiday autos and Argus seem to be best price but after reading reviews they both only get 1 or 2 stars, never hired car before and am worried sick of being scammed .
Any advise on best companies to go with and what ins best to take ,
Argus car hire incl CDW with no excess which seemed a gd price £68.63 for 8 days

Be careful of the charges for a tank of fuel. Full to full is better.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

You just have to read the terms and conditions before you book, if it says €xx for a tank of fuel, just go to the next one in the list, until you find a full to full deal.
It's a bit of a pain, but worth it to save money.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -

I also need to book car hire at alicante on the 16th sept for two weeks and losing the will of checking so many!! As original poster, worried about getting ripped off with hidden extras that you don't fully find out about till you get to the car hire place in spain!0

The main things to look out for are the full-empty fuel policy. You will be charged for a tank of fuel, at inflated prices, and you get no money back for any fuel left over when you return the car.
The other thing is the CDW excess, this is the amount you have to pay if the car is damaged, no matter who is to blame. This can range from €500-€1500. You can buy a policy, to cover this amount from the UK before you leave for around £2 a day, this will also include damage to tyres and windows, which would cost extra from the hire company.
You can buy a policy from the hire company to reduce the excess to zero but this usually costs at least €5-10 a day and tyre insurance another €3 a day.
Also check the paperwork before you leave the rental desk as some companies have been known to tick accept the extra insurance even though the customer has refused it.0 -
if you look at bravocarhire they list all the different car hire companies that they deal with and they list their T & Cs. solmar do full-to-full I think. Also doyouSpain are usually cheap and they offer you the chance to change supplier if you don't like their first offer. You only pay when you pick up the car. Rentalscout had really good prices last year - they are also a broker and Carjet are a reliable broker. the thing is they are all just brokers - ie middlemen who put you in touch with the car hire companies and different brokers seem to have different agreements with the same hire companies so it really is a matter of spending a lot of time researching.0

Exactly, you need to put more time in researching to avoid the full to empty pay for a tank of fuel situation.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0
