Maggot in tangerine: advice please

Hi there

Shopped online for a delivery last Friday from Tesco. Ordered a big bag of tangerines. Peeled a tangerine today, ate half then looked down to see a small white maggot with a black head crawling around on the table. As you may have guessed I spat the rest out.

What should I do?

Is this normal?

Would my nan just say they're good for you?

Or should I take to store and complain: what should I expect.

The tangerine was in my fruit bowl with all fruit from that same delivered shop!

Ps - maggot is watching me write this as we speak.

Have you thought of a name for it yet ?

Think I'd just tend to forget all about it. It's a fresh product grown in an open environment. I think it's likely that this is something that will occur occasionally & difficult to see what steps retailer can take to avoid it happening.

I agree - just forget about it (although it may be a while before you fancy a tangerine again! ;) )

Its far better to have the odd maggot in your fruit than have them sprayed with MORE chemicals!

Indeed. Perhaps it'll try and claim compensation!
