Try deleting your email account in Outlook and reinstall. You will need all the correct details of course.0

I have now tried that and it still doesnt work.. I have also been on the phone to Microsoft support for over 2 hours and they have not resolved it they told me to reset my password and look again in 24 hours!!
I am now trying to change my password but have literally no idea how to.. I am so frustrated!!0 -
Have you tried using the previous password on talktalk?0

All Outlook does it log onto your webmail and download the emails. So if it's not downloading the emails with your new password - you've entered it wrong.
Make sure you can log back onto webmail on talktalk and then edit your password again in your Outlook config.0 -

I definitely havent entered it wrong - both the outlook provider and I have tried it several times and it works on my phone and when I enter it onto the webmail page..0 -

the correct (new) password works on talktalk and on my phone, but it will not work in outlook - I have reinstalled outlook (or should I say the microsoft helpline man has reinstalled it), but it still doesnt work.
After 2.5 hours on the phone to the helpline all he could offer was that I should change the password again and try again in 24 hours!!
I just wondered whether anyone had come across anything like this before as it seems really strange to me - I really need to get back onto outlook again..0 -
No idea why Microsoft re-installed Outlook as it's irrelevant to it, and changing password and trying again in 24 hours is irrelevant as well.
A few things to try:
1 - type your password into notepad and then copy and paste it into Outlook. As Outlook encrypts it and just gives you the **** you can't see what's being typed, so try a copy and paste.
2 - control panel > mail > create a new profile and set that up with your talktalk details and then set Outlook to let you choose which profile to use so you can pick the new one to test
3 - Depending on your OS.. you should have a saved passwords list on your machine; if you're on XP, go into Control Panel, users and then advanced it should have a saved password list. You may have an entry in there for your talktalk email so it's constantly trying your old password.
4 - if the above still doesn't work; create a new user account on your PC. Log in as that and then create an Outlook profile for your email and test that. If that still doesn't work then check back to number 3 as it's more than likely picking up a stored password.0 -

After 2.5 hours I think he gave up as he had no idea what to do next!!
I have done all of the above in the time whilst on the phone to the support - he tested outlook and it worked in the test, just not with my details??? I have done the copy paste so that it is definitely the correct password - also the old password was shorter, so I knew it was the new one is is trying??0 -
when you do a manual send and receive and the progress box comes up. What does it say in the error message box?0
