    may i re-cap,
there's nobody lazier than me, home or on holiday!
my whole point is to the quote of someone leaving broken glass on the floor for 3 days then on the table for a further 3 days (perhaps out of protest)
but who in their right mind would see a broken glass and leave it there for their family to maybe step on it?

I personally can't bear the thought of sitting by a pool for two weeks, or ignoring local culture, but the choice is up to the individual.

now to me, local culture just bores me. I don't go to museums and science fairs over here so i wouldn't want to go traipsing round foreign countries.
I want to get off the plane, dump my bags in the room and find a bar; sleep it off and crash out round the pool before repeating it again. Yeah it gets boring after a bit but i go on holiday to relax and kick back, not to run around all over the place.
  • korky, regardless of the laziness of the guest, surely the point of that review was to show the incompetence of housekeeping at the hotel? I wouldn't leave glass lying around like that, but I would expect a standard of cleaning that would have dealt with it at the first opportunity.

I think the clue is in the word 'Holiday'

  • We pay for the best hotels we can afford on holiday as we look at it this way.
We are on holiday we are taking a break and a rest from routine,we want spoiled and pampered and there is no way will we do anything that we have paid other people to do.
Mind you we're very tidy people so there is'nt ever any "mess" for the cleaners anyway.

I think we are figuring out why we all like our own holidays our own way - I work in central London, and rarely have time to traipse around museums, so if I get a chance to visit Roman ruins or see the site of a Civil War thing, I'll have a look.

As long as I'm not doing accounts etc, I couldn't give a stuff. :)
