Hi, this is the Daily Thread for xx (add date). This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all
Molly I hope your appointments go well today/this week.
I'm off to work about 10ish, but if there is nothing to do I shall come straight home.
Today's plans include clearing up the kitchen again, tidying the desk in the study & sorting out the wool stashed in the corner of the living room next to where I sit, following on from that I need to make 4 or 5 blankets out of all the random crochet squares & hex's that are kicking around.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

I thought I'd venture out of "lurkdom" ;)

I'm new seperated and so adjusting to a very much smaller budget.

OS today : packed lunches for the three of us, cottage pie (from a frozen building bloc) and I hope to have a furtle in the garden to see is there is anything suitable for chutney!

    Morning all

Freezing here again, put my quilt back on the bed last night and am wearing PJ's and my big dressing gown . Dry so far so am hoping to get my sheets on the line.

Off to do Mum's cleaning this morning. Also need to check DS's shoes and see if they still fit him. He had new shoes not so long ago so I'm hoping they'll be ok to go back to school. Also need to buy blinds for my kitchen and bathroom and put my curtain up over the kitchen door. Hate my kitchen, it's so pokey and cold in the winter. Then work for the next 2 nights.

Have read the thread but can't remember anything! Big hugs to anyone who needs one. Have a good day all.

Have read the thread and forgotten everything.

Well I'm not often early either.....in bed with the lappie and a cuppa. Need to fly with the flyladies(and men)today as I didn't do much over the weekend except washing and cooking and jam making.

Gym in a bit-I was referred by the GP and it does seem to be doing me good.

NPM hope you feel better soon.

Cat-have a good time with the rellies.

JackieO sorry to hear about nasty accommodation but hope you all had a good time in the end.

Flutterby-holiday is sounding great-we go to see DD and DSIL in Japan at Christmas.

    Lou ((hugs)).

Hugs and get well soons to all who need them.

    Have a good day all.

    Morning everyone

Bright and sunny but a bit chilly here this morning. Returned from hols yesterday, had a lovely week of r&r, and good quality time with boys and DH, weather very changeable but it doesn't stop us doing what we want. I'm on holiday until next Monday. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock.

Washing out on the line. Have another load done in WM waiting to go out on line. Today's jobs will be to try to get washing mountain done and as much dried as possible, also need to get some fresh supplies, did a rough menu plan last night and don't need to buy much, so will try to keep it as OS as possible using stuff from the freezer.

Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

    Morning everyone,

    Welcome Shilly,

    Hugs to NPM and Lou.

Molly and Bethebee hope the appointments go well.

Time to grasp the mettle and make sure that everything is ready for the children and me returning to school next week, the holidays have gone so quickly.
Need to take DS's shoes to the menders and sew some labels in DD2's new uniform.

DW has started to behave so I can hold off calling the service engineer.

WM on and weather ok for drying.

Tea tonight is pasta with mozzarella and tomato sauce as all children eating at different times. DS has rugby and DD2 has netball.

I am going out tonight with some friends to catch up on holiday gossip so looking forward to that.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)

    Morning, all!

Just got the kids off to school and am sitting here having a second cuppa while planning out today. Top of the list is Shopping, which I hate. Actually no, I don't mind grocery shopping weirdly enough but this time it's for odd bits of clothes and some small things for DS's birthday next week. So that's a trail round the local shopping centre to look forwards to. Not.

DS is being most reasonable about his birthday though. I offered to give him cash to take three or four pals out to the cinema and for a burger or something as a birthday treat, but what he wants is a sleepover plus home made pizza for said four pals. Much cheaper, yeah. His sister is away this weekend so it doesn't matter if they stay up all night playing Warhammer or whatever. And he wants a chocolate hedghog cake, the kind you make with chocolate buttons on for a two year old's party. He's going to be fifteen btw. Do they ever really grow up where cake is concerned????

Went to the allotment yesterday and came back with peas, leeks, celery, carrots, turnips, broccoli, cauliflower, beetroot, kale, french beans, salad and raspberries, phew. Need to generate a menu plan round these now, though we did eat the beans and rasps last night. There's definately a soup and pud night in there though as I have more than enough apples coming ripe now. And some sort of vegetable gratin, if not two. The rest will go in the freezer in handy portions.
    Val.
