Travelodge £15 rooms (merged)

I have major issues with their misuse of the word "guaranteed" - payment is guaranteed to them, but a room is not guaranteed for the punter.

That said I had a great £15 room at Kew at the end of 2006 with no probs - though I did check availability on their website and would have checked in a few hours earlier if they had indicated they were full.

I feel the same - I paid in full at time of booking weeks before, phoned to check late arrival ok and still didn't have a guaranteed room in the lodge I selected and had to drive to another location at 1am. I have used Travelodges for years because I need to arrive at anti-social hours due to transport connections. I expect to have a room when I have booked it. I will be using Welcome Break in future.

awww thats sad. sorry. you should definitely send them a written complaint. they will probably give you some vouchers of some sort.

It is clearly stated on their website that they do overbook rooms,so in theory there can`t be any guaranteed rooms.
If your chosen lodge is full they apparently send you to another close by or put you up in another "hotel" locally.

If people read the T&C`s,they know where they stand.
Of course £15 a night is a real bargain,which is why they jump in with both feet and don`t read the T&C`s.
Having said that,I`d be blo0dy annoyed turning up and find "no room at the inn".

A couple of quick questions from a travel lodge virgin...

The travel lodge I am looking at booking says that the family room sleeps 4 but only 3 adults. Is this always the case - because there's 4 of us so I don't know if to book 2 rooms..

Also - are there going to be anymore £15 rooms anytime soon?

Don't know about the inner city ones but the more rural (think motorway or next to little chef etc) ones tend to have a double bed plus a sofa bed.

Incidentally anyone planning to stay at the Battersea (London) travelodge should plan for the case that the trains and underground are about 1 mile from it. There are bus routes that go past or it's a 10 min brisk walk. Not exactly the most convenient location.

Hi

The room consists of a double bed and a settee. One person sleeps on the top of the settee and then there is a bed which pulls out from under the settee. The pull out bit would be a bit short for anyone too tall. You would need to book for 3 adults and one child thought - so it would be up to you whether you think you could get away with that.

Sorry, have to ask being a Travelodge virgin. We are off to Bournemouth in 2 weeks time. Do we need to call up in advance to escape from the overbooking mess? Also, website says limited parking available. How is it allocated? Can this be preallocated/phoned to be arranged?

Usually it is a double bed plus single sofa bed with a small pull out bed underneath - too small for an adult or large teen as others have said. However, when we stayed at one of the Devon travelodges the lady on reception fetched us a folding bed in for my large teen. Havent found them anywhere else though - yet!

We stayed at Bournemouth. There was underground parking, but it was a case of first come - first served.

Didnt have any problems with overbooking but I dont suppose it will do any harm to call them.

Bournemouth travelodge was exellent at £15. Yes the car park was tight, and it was a little noisy, but a true bargain. Of course the weather helped :cool:
