Glad it aint just me thinking that... it really shocks me what is now considered normal for kids to get as presents!
one of my nephews got given (after demanding) an ipod touch for christmas,
within 2 hours it had been dropped into the snow.... mind you, he still had his new PS3 (already had the big one, but parents decided he needed the slim one also), new 40 inch tv for his bedroom etc etc
theres a thread on here today, about what a 18yr lad wants for his birthday... what a delight he is going to be once he realises what the real world is like!
OP - Lego is cool, entertains all ages, im sure what et him he will be happy with. Please be nice to all moneysavers!

As I already said I am getting him lego, Im just looking for ideas of what else.
He has asked for an ipod touch in the past plus a camera, which the touch has.Shut up woman get on my horse!!!0 -
You can get a refurbished ipod touch at studentcomputers.co.uk from £85 - although general opinion seems to be not to get him one!0

That is my son you speak of, yes he is going to de a darling, when he is about 23:rotfl: he is going to be one disappointed child in 20 days:D
If he has asked for lego give him lego all the gadgets are for later, to argue about that they can't have, they are too expensive when they are older:D0 -

Is it not the ipod touch 4th generation the latest one that has got the camera? I don' think the others have do they? I could be wrong because I have the ipod first one that came out in 2007 for xmas and it is still going strong so never replaced it.:D0 -
My son is abit younger, but things i'd consider:
Lego
Books (!!)
Chemistry Set type kit - Blast Lab/Horrible science type
Experience day out - Falconry - Owl day - Zoo Keeper for the day etc
If you are looking at the ipod because you have a total £figure in mind, just stick the rest in a savings account."On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." My hero, Mr Steer.0 -

as for the camera, I bought one half price from currys a lumix and gave my son the old one, he loves it, it takes photos that is all he was interested in it for, he loves it because it is his and keeps going around showing it off and I am not worried incase he drops it etc:D0 -
My son will be 9 next month and for his Birthday he is being a mascot for Chesterfield FC as he is obsessed with football, he has a few other bits and bobs like pencils, felt tips, small packs of Lego (free from the newspapers a while ago), pair of goal keeping gloves and might also get him a Moshi Monsters gift card.

Kimberley does your son get birthday/Christmas money from relatives? If he does, I'd suggest to him he uses that if he wants an ipod touch. I don't think a camera gift for a 9-year old is a bad idea to be honest, you can even get hand held camcorders for about £30.
My DD bought her own ipod touch out of her Christmas money, as I think its too expensive and she already had an ipod nano (also bought herself the January before from Christmas money). She only has a decent camera because I bought myself a new one and gave her my old one.0 -
My dad is going to go halfs on the ipod touch
He gets £1000 each birthday and xmas, but it goes into a savings account for when he is 21, he doesnt really get money apart from that.Shut up woman get on my horse!!!0
