Mobiles.co.uk redemption and PAC

What I am trying to say that the customer must not just inform the retailer, but to prove this with the bills (same acc. number, different mobile numbers).
At least this was the case for e2save that I was with when porting the number last time. I am currently with mobiles.co.uk, but decided not to port.
Think I just said that - the account number on the bill is obviously the network provider's account number. The mobile number is linked to the retailer's order number.
They will have their own mechanism to match the order number to the network account number.
The important thing is to inform the retailer of the mobile number change and get confirmation they have updated their systems.
And also check before porting a number that there is nothing in the sale t&c which would invalidate the cashback claim if the mobile number changes. With likes of CPW and Phones4u, there is no such condition but some retailers I think have had some nerky cashback conditions.0 -

I don't think that this is the case.
If they had their "own mechanism" there would be no need to inform them as the account number is shown on the bill and remains the same when you port the number.
Look whatever mechanism there is or there is not, they require the order number and personal details to be correct when a cashback claim is made.
The mobile number should be correct too on their records - not least for when you call up and make some inquiry about something, they will need that for whatever IT systems they have in place.
The main thing is to keep them updated when you make a change to the mobile number or your cashback deal could will get rejected (like it or not).0 -
Oops! Wish I hadn't asked the question now! Thanks all for trying to help though.0

From their web site
Cashback will not be paid if- You do not complete the minimum term (12, 18 or 24 months) of your contract.
- If any of your monthly bills are not paid in full.
- If you do not remain on the original tariff with the original handset (if you have ported your existing number this will not affect your claim). If your account is not up to date with payments.
Personally, I would send an email to them when you have ported your number, keeping a copy on file in case of problems.0 -
Porting again with new order next Monday and wasn't aware I could port on ordering - see how it goes, but it would simplify matters.
Itchy fingers and just ordered brand new deal from Mobiles.co.uk this morning. Delivered by RM tomorrow (if passed OK).
T-Mobile contract over 18 months and no opportunity to use PAC (maybe just Vodafone??), so will contact T-Mobile once received and port over. Advise and get email back from Mobiles.co.uk to confirm they have updated my account with new ported number and sit back until March to make 1st claim.
To simplify things, everything needed by Mobiles.co.uk will be included on the March bill to match what they require. Saved email (once received) in case anything goes wrong - can't see it though.
@zolablue - did you take out a contract??

Ok. Here's one. I'm happy with my existing phone. But the upgrade deals aren't that good. There are some deals though on mobiles.co.uk, that are great if you are prepared to settle for a really basic phone. I'm thinking of doing this, then swapping the sim over into my existing phone. The terms of cashback state that cashback will not be paid ...
"If you do not remain on the original tariff with the original handset".
Does that mean I actually have to use that handset? Do they know when you are not using it?
99p/month for 24 months sounds great but it'll not be, if I end up paying £25/month for a rubbish phone that I ain't even using.0 -
You don't have to use anything. You have to pay bills on time and submit claims correctly.
You can use the sim in any handset that takes it. They cannot know and don't want to know what handset it is.0
