Mobiles.co.uk redemption and PAC

Hi
I have seen a reasonable deal on mobiles.co.uk for a phone on the Talk Mobile network. The deal requires redemption but this doesn't bother me unduly. I was reading through their redemption help on the websit eand it does state that one of the things they need to see on your bill is your phone number. Would this cause a problem if I have changed my number by porting my old number in with a PAC number as my number on my bill would not match the number originally on my contract?
Thanks

You can tell them of your ported number at time of ordering so the new contract will have your number from start.
i.e. When ordering, you give them the PAC code.
Except if you are going to be moving to Vodafone (there are issues with vodafone).
If you port after getting a brand new contract with a new number, you can inform them afterwards that your number has been updated. I did that when I took out a contract with them (mobiles co) and other retailers.0 -
i.e. When ordering, you give them the PAC code.Transferring your number requires following a simple three step process:
- Before ordering your new phone you will need to contact your current network provider (the company your contract is with) and ask for a Porting Authorisation Code (PAC).The issuing of a PAC number acts as an official cancellation request with your current provider.
- Order your new phone with Mobiles.co.uk. When it arrives you will be supplied a new (in this case temporary) number which you can use in the interim.
- Once you receive your phone you will need to contact the customer service department of your new network and give them your PAC number. The network will then arrange port dates with your old network, and on the agreed date your number will be moved across.

If you port your number after ordering you have to inform them about this and prove this by sending the bill(s) showing the original number and the ported number. I think it's OK to do this when claiming the first cashback. I prefer writing an accompanying letter with all details in this case.
You don't need to send the bill with the original number on once ported, only the bill for the month required showing the ported number.
What is important is getting an acknowledgement from them that the number has been ported. Once this has been confirmed, your account will be updated with the ported number and your bill will match.
Only did it once and no issues at all.
Porting again with new order next Monday and wasn't aware I could port on ordering - see how it goes, but it would simplify matters.

Again, you can know better, but this makes no sense to me. If you send them only the bill with the ported number this can be a contract bought elsewhere. The only way to prove that it's the contract bought through mobiles.co.uk is to show them the bills with the same account number and both phone numbers.
I guess you meant the acknowledgement that they were informed about the porting. Again, if I were them I wold require some proof, not just being informed.
Once you have informed them that you have ported your number, they will update your account with your ported number.
Your bill will then show all that is required. Same account number, correctly named purchaser, tariff etc. The only difference is the new number..............which is the important bit and needs acknowledged to prevent obvious issues. Get them to email you that your account has been updated. No need to send in any other bill other than the one required.
No issues at all, just make sure your 1st claim is OK and the rest should have no issues.

What same account number? It's the network's account number that mobiles.co.uk know nothing about until they receive your first bill.
The name and the tariff don't prove that this contract was bought through mobiles.co.uk. Only the mobile number proves this.0 -

They (mobiles co) use order number and personal data to determine the caseback claim (at least online).
The mobile number itself is not required when claiming online but should be kept upto date to avoid confusion (not just with mobiles but with any cashback deal and with any retailer).0 -

ETA:
Just a scenario.- I have a contract with, say, Orange. Mobile number 0777***.
- I buy another contract with Orange through mobiles.co.uk with redemption. Same tariff, number 0778***.
- I tell mobiles.co.uk that I ported number 0777*** to my contract, but I don't port it actually. According to Lynsey they don't ask for any proof of porting.
- I abandon the new contract (0778***), but keep claiming the cashback by sending the bills for my old contract (0777***).

Well, are you (and Lynsey) are trying to say that if I submit a bill for my another contract with the same network and the same tariff they will accept it? I don't think so.
Of course it is not required because it must be shown on the bill that you submit.
No I am not trying to say that.
What I am saying is the customer must inform the retailer (in this case mobiles co) of their new numbers once the number has been ported.
But since you ask a specific question of more than one contract - I have two contracts via mobiles co (both cashback) - both on same network and same tariff.
I have made all my claims through online submission (which requires the order number and personal details plus the electronic copy of the bill for a successful claim in addition to the bill having the correct mobile number on it - i.e. matches the order).
I also manage the cashback claims for my brother too - whose mobile number was ported after the phone was received.0 -

At least this was the case for e2save that I was with when porting the number last time. I am currently with mobiles.co.uk, but decided not to port.0
