Good morning all, and hugs to those that need them

I had a very busy day yesterday - the in-laws came over after coming home from holiday and brought the most humungous boxes of plums and blackberries from their garden  - I have NO freezer space at all right now and not enough sugar to make jam until I go shopping again next week. I decided to use some of it to try and make some fruit leather (sweetening with honey, which I get free from my parents who keep bees) and duly left all the trays in a low oven overnight. This morning I came down to discover the oven had cut out at some point in the night and I still have trays of sloshy gloop. So the oven (which I wanted to use for baking today) is back on again....

Because the oven is out of action I am going to make SC risotto for dinner this evening (never made it before, so hopefully it will be more successful than the fruit leather!) and (surprise surprise) stewed fruit and custard for pud.

Culinary challenges aside, we're planning a walk this afternoon (rain or shine - those DDs have been cooped up long enough!). Am going to have to resist any foraging though!

    Have good days all

    Morning all!

Just a quick pop on before i make the bread for today.

Had a lovely weekend with the boys, we played along the while the brave peeps went and jumped in the tees. It was very windy, bit wet but all good. the River Tees is looking nicer every year.

Not sure what were doing today, think we might go berry picking, well a wander, or take a trip to if the car boot sale is on today at Stokelsey.
Its so windy at the mo, so i'll have to venture in the garden to see how the veg is faring.

(hugs) to those that need them

Enjoy your day whatever you maybe doing .

Lovely morning here. My head is in the garden yanking out weeds. Unfortunately my body is lounging in front of the computer trawling through forums. So....?

Beth: The FussyMum part of me says one meal a day is not enough, but how do I know what is right for you? How awful that you can't get an appointment before Friday. What annoys me is when you're asked if it is an emergency. How are you expected to know? I always say, "Not yet."
NPM: Hope today is better for you and nothing out of the way happens. I think you can just about cope with a routine day. It's the extra burdens that are unbearable. Lots of love.
Lou: Keep going flower, we're all rooting for you.

There's a half-price gammon joint in the oven that we will have hot today with new pots, beans and tomatoes, cold tomorrow with salad, in a quiche on Wednesday and with a bit of chicken in a pie on Thursday. There should be enough bits for the odd sandwich or two as well. Thank you Mr T.

Have done a bit of clearing in the room of doom. Flylady says you can't organise clutter but I am here to tell you that it looks a whole lot better scooped up into neat piles! The room looks almost tidy.

Good morning chums (just)I have a wonderful warm dry sleep in my own bed last night and feel so much better this morning I am just about to email as requested by the agent a list of what was wrong with the house starting with being greeted by a decomposing rat on the patio when we arrived to the place being absolutely fithy when we got inside, and thats just two of the long list of things but hey ho we were spolit from the previous two years when we stayed in a house in Chale which was to die for and spotlessly clean.Still I will pen my stiff letter and see what happens.Thaks for the warm welcome back My son-in-law took his laptop but where we stayed we had no way of getting a connection as it was half way down a cliff and I couldn't even get a network connection on my moby ,but not to worry I managed to text my eldest DD (who worries incessantly about me if I don't speak to her at least once a day) when ever I went into Newport.Tonight I am going to my DDs for dinner, even though I have just had two weeks with them she still wants a 'proper sunday dinner' albeit a day late, and we shall be mulling over our holiday. All the washing is done and up to date and on the line ,not too sure when I will get it ironed as I am back looking after the boys tomorrow, they are off school until next week.Life gets back to 'normal' then hopefully and I shall have to start thinking about Christmas and looking around for some bits and pieces.DGD Katie starts her first proper job on Wednesday at a nursery where she was lucky enough to beat the other applicants for the position .I'm pleased for her as she had been applying since she left college in June She had got all the right qualifications from her college course. The other DGD Holly starts at Uni in late Sepember but she is going to the Medway campus so she will be staying at home so will save money that way.
Right I'm off to put the kettle on Have a good Bank Holiday whatever you are doing.I feel the nip in the air of autumn already
    Cheers chums JackieO xx

    Afternoon All

Eventually went out last night for DH's Saturday birthday, with DS & GF & her parents. We went here and it was really nice. Spent the day taking off their new front door (to the flat) fixing the top hinge that was coming out, and planing some off the bottom so it did not catch on the hall carpet. As they have to stand on the stairs to open and close it, they felt they were going to fall backwards pulling it and pushing it up to get it locked. Then had to shorten the bathroom door so it closed properly. Fetched more things from the old flat, and while we were doing that DS's GF was filling the wall inthe kitchen where we had taken a pine unit down. They had tried to lighten the pine units in the kitchen with some pale green emulsion, only problem is the surface was sticky and when we washed it it started to come off. Back in lounge the planking flooring had finished short of the some cupbaords and they had just put a 2/3" piece of architrave to hide it. Also they had raised wood over the old hearth, but when DH & GF's Dad looked a piece of concrete just came out and it could be made flush, so hence GF's Mum & DS rushing out to Wickes 2 mins before they closed to get some more timber. Had a jobsworth on the door who tried to say they were too late, so had a stroppy GF's Mum who demanded the Manager - we got the wood  We need to get some tall skirting to put some of the character back into the room, as it again is just plain square planking at the moment, but will have to wait until GF's Dad can go again with his estate car. He is very busy with work for a couple of weeks, so they will have to live in a bit of a building site, but they know it will come good. Real good news though, is he looked in the loft, and it seems there is potential to extend into there thus making the value of the flat really improve. Long term plan, but worth doing. It will be investigated out.

I am sat in the old flat at the moment- been sent to get the freezer stuff (last thing) and was told to take my laptop and have some pc time, think they wanted to give me a break.

Right I had better go and get the stuff and get back to mayhem!!

(((hugs))) Lou, NPM, and anyone else who needs one

    Take care all - DG

Goodness, afternoon already! mind, although I woke at 5am I managed to go back to sleep until nearly 8.30am so had a late start!
JackieO glad you managed to enjoy your holiday despite the house conditions. Hope your stiff letter gets some results.
NPM, haven't caught up yet, but gather you're having a not so good time just now. (HUGS) to you and anyone else needing one today.
Well, having been in hospital for a couple of days last week I hoped DS would be OK for a while, but no, back to A&E last night again. He was told he could stay longer last week, but of course, no, he wanted home as quickly as possible. Trouble seems to be his pancreas plus the aneurism causing terrific headaches in equal quantities. Anyhow, we'll be visiting later today.
DGD and her Mum are hving a lovely holiday in Germany with her family - almost too hot she said last night! Told her she's picked the right time to be away!
First load of washing is already indoors again, and DS' bedding is now on the line. Hope the rain holds off as the wind is drying quickly today!
BM just finished, so will pop out to pick up a few bits for the next few days. Supper will be using up the remains of the roast chicken from yesterday - either chicken'n'rice or curry. Lunch will be HM soup plus jamaican patties.
Oh well, must get on. Hope you all enjoy the Bank holiday. Do take care of yourselves.

    Thanks for all the wishes:A
I feel even worse today so am going to have to ring docs first thing and go in. cough worse and throat so sore that I cant eat or drink:o
Just been to park with DH and DS just to get out for a bit.
Going to watch Home Alone with DS in a bit .
DH making meatballs and spaghetti for tea later but doubt I will eat much of it.
Islandmaid I used to do that with DS when he was younger. His difficulty is that it isnt just autism, he has adhd, PDA, tourettes and auditory processing disorder so he spends most of his life in a confused state trying to make sense of the world and it is at these times that he has meltdowns or when when things are too noisy and loud. Trying to steer him through life is a hard task.
Flutterby sorry to hear that news lovey

Well yesterday was the first of H2B's 2 stag do's. He went paintballing with a few of his friends and they all decided to meet here before leaving. So I was up early again as the first 2 turned up at 8am! I wouldn't have minded but I've had horrendous ear ache over the last few days so have barely slept. The plan was once they all left I would potter round the house, get a bit of my course work done then have a nap. Only my friend dropped her fiance off and asked if it was ok for her to pop round once she'd dropped them off at the paintball site. So she ended up staying until 4 so I got nothing done, then the lads poured into the house. My GOD H2B's back is in a state after they made him do a stag run! They decided to have a few drinks in the house so I went round my mams and ended up coming back at 8ish by which time I was shattered.

Had an early night but couldn't sleep, H2B was still full of energy so he was tossing and turning and ended up getting up in the middle of the night, think he only came back to bed about 6ish. I couldn't sleep because of my ear again. Today has been a lazy day! Stripped the beds, got one load washed and on the line and the other loads just finished but it's so dark out there I'm not going to risk hanging it out. Also got upstairs and the stairs hovered so got a few things done at least.

Tomorrow we've got to drive to Birmingham and back for H2B's treatment so I hope we both get some sleep tonight as it's a 450 mile round trip and it's tiring enough as it is.

Sorry that some of you are having a tough time at the moment, just take things one day at a time x
Going to get to grips with food shopping again, starting February!

Got married to my lovely hubby on 12/11/2011 :D

    Evening all

Hope you have all had nice bank holiday monday :) Mine has been pretty lazy!

I've been doing more research for my holidays, and decided to treat myself to a hotel rather than hostel for the start of my trip in Hong Kong. I'm only there for 3 nights, and I arrive at 9pm so wanted to make sure I could get to place safely etc. From what I've read most hostels can be tricky to spot (due to signage, and amount of businesses in a building) so have booked an Ibis hotel. It was only £50/night and has a harbour view. I'm going to stay in hostels in Oz and Singapore, and in NZ I am stayig with my friend.

I popped out earlier to have a look at a few car dealerships to see if anything takes my fancy. There are just too many cars to choose from :rotfl:looking to spend £3-4K and want a small/medium size car. Think I need to visit a big dealership where I can look at lots of different models then make a list and research.

OS wise - DW been on, laundry put away, HM soup from freezer for lunch

Busy day tomorrow, taking work kids powerboating, so we leave at 8am. Sadly whilst they are out on boats I have to go to a meeting :(.

    Have a good evening all
