So you still haven't read the stickies, maybe you don't know where to look? Firstly you MUST watch the Watchdog paper aeroplane excerpt which is linked in the sticky (permanent info) thread near the top of the forum thread list, the one called 'WELCOME, please read before posting!!!':

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/...play.php?f=163

That Watchdog clip is an absolute must-see for people who actually think a Private parking fake 'ticket' is a real fine. And guess what, the featured bogus 'PCN' is from your friends MET! Have a laugh watching that! :rotfl:

Then look at the top sticky thread 'PPC letters, what to expect' and make sure that the registered keeper of the car (you?) is ready to play a fun game of snap with each matching letter as it arrives. The scary letters will look 'official' and will be on debt collector and 'let's pretend we are a solicitor' headed notepaper. This is part of the scam.

No-one will go to court in spite of the threats in the scamograms; that's so rare it's almost unheard of and PPCs lose almost every time with a defended case.

Nothing will affect your credit rating, ignoring this rubbish fake fine is like ignoring a phishing email scam.

Clear now I hope that you have NOT even had a real parking ticket? It will be crystal clear once you've checked out the top sticky threads I mentioned.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

So you are parking in some spaces on a petrol station forecourt and going to a nearby restaurant?
Does that restaurant have a car-park you could use?
If so, why don't you park in there leaving the petrol station spaces free for any potential customers of the petrol station shop?

Ignore Met Parking anyhow, only the landowner can sue for damages, which in free parking slots will be a big fat zero

Thanks for everyone who has been given the advice, I think I would just put it at the bottom of the drawer.:D

Update: the restaurant I went hasnt got its own parking area, from the day one(5 years ago??) i have been told by the manager of the restaurant just park at those spaces and it has been fine. I spoke to the manager today and he has just aware of that as well. He went to the patrol station and spoke to one of the guy at the station(not sure if it is the manager), but he has been known him for ages, the guy from the patrol station said it is fine for him(or the station) that I have been parking there, but he couldnt do anything about the issued "ticket". So in theory, if the owner of the land (Petrol station) has granted the permission to park on their property, I could ignore the so called "ticket" anyway. right?

    Correct!

In legal terms their claim on you is for breach of contract but they would need to prove that you were aware of that contract when you parked the car.

As you did not notice the sign when you parked there you cannot possibly have been aware of entering into any contract to pay for parking there and they cannot possibly prove that you were.

Even if they could prove you were aware of the contract, their claim would be limited to the amount of the landowners loss as a result of you parking there. It would be impossible to prove any such loss if the landowner has granted permission for you to park there!

    Ignore!
