Have seen a lot of people saying they have got the "ticket" from this company, and been advised ignor them, got one today with a bit difference situiation to others.
I go to this restraunt almost every week, today I went there and next to the restaurant there is a Petrol station, there are few parking bays there and for the past 5 years there is always a sign to warn drivers that the driver will need to responsible for the cars parked in thses bays if there are any damages but nothing about fines. thats up until last week. Today I went there as usual and didn't think to look around after I parked, went to the restaurant and after about 50 minutes, came back and found there was a ticket there. It was from Metparking services says I was overparked. I looked at the sign and noticed below the sign there were another sign (a bigger sign) says the Petrol station owns the parking bay and max parking 15 minutes blah blah.....
I just would like to know, in my case, the sign obviously was clear about parking time. Should I pay for it? (I think the MET Parking have learned from the past and now actually displaying the signs)
Please advice.:(

If you pay it as clear evidence suggests they will come after you for MORE money.
You have been given an invitation to pay a private invoice
You can decline it by ignoring it .Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

When you say " they will come after you for MORE money", in what ground they could after for more money if I pay for what it says on the ticket?
Besides, All others I read on this forum was there were no signs or the sign was not clearly displayed, in my case, I can see the sign was there (it was actually next to my car, but it was leveled to the door sort of height, not on the top of the stick, also there were some other signs but on the wall about 15 meters from where i parked for other bays) so I'm not too sure if this can be counted as the same situiation as others??0 -
Doesnt matter if the sign was 40ftx40ft-your case is not unique, you didnt read enough of the stickies-ignore!Went shoplifting at the Disneystore today.

It's nothing to do with the signs and all about the fact that a private company cannot demand money of somebody that bears no relation to the actual material loss suffered by the land owner. In you case this amounts to a big fat zero. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

well the sign says 15 minutes, they have proof you broke their rules, you admit you broke the rules, i wouldnt ignore a they-will-certainly-win-if-they-bother-to-take-you-to-court dead cert like that.
People dont read stickies because either:
1. they are new and hasty.
2. they are new and stupid.
3. they are new, stupid, ignorant and too thick to spell correctly, let alone read stickies.Target Savings by end 2009: 20,000
current savings: 20,500 (target hit yippee!)
Debts: 8000 (student loan so doesnt count)
new target savings by Feb 2010: 30,0000 -

Have read of this! By the way check your own spelling!!:p
It is unfair to impose disproportionate sanctions for breach of contract. A
requirement to pay more in compensation for a breach than a reasonable
pre-estimate of the loss caused to the supplier is one kind of excessive
penalty. Such a requirement will, in any case, normally be void to the
extent that it amounts to a penalty under English common law!0 -
Hmmmmm........still a bit confused~:wall: :mad:0

There is really nothing to be confused about.
With very few exceptions a private parking company will try to extract as much money as they can from you. They will never accept an appeal (see this thread http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showtopic=64406 about the one legged man being ticketed for parking in a disabled bay.)
They can only send you an invoice, if you disagree with the invoice you can just ignore this and all the following begging letters.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -
