Blackberry help please

Hoping someone can help.

My daughter has broke her blackberry and is on O2 contract till March next year.
I was going to buy a cheap phone to keep her going till then but want to use her O2 sim. Will most phones unlock so she can still stay on the same contract till then. Does anyone know of a cheap phone that would be ok for this.
Thanks

What do you mean? Yes, any phone can be unlocked if it is locked, but it's not free for all phones. "Sim-free" phones are unlocked. So are all phones sold by CPW/e2save/osps/mobiles.co.uk and Phones4U.

Thanks for your reply. I was looking on the internet and I saw some people were having problems unlocking some phones so wondered if there were any to avoid. Thanks again.
  • If the phone you purchase is sold as part of a pay-as-you-go package from O2, then there is no need to worry about unlocking, it will work with your old/existing O2 sim card.
The same applies if you purchase your new phone from any of the retailers grumbler mentioned above.
You will only need to worry about unlocking, if the handset you purchase is intended for use on another network (not O2) and is purchased from a retailer other than those mentioned above.
If the handset does need unlocked, then 99% of handsets can be unlocked easily by code.
The cost of this varies between £0 and £20 depending on which handset it is. (excluding iphone which can cost alot more to unlock depending on your circumstances)

Or go online, download a piece of software, run it, and presto!
