I have a O2 SIM only Blackberry plan, my phone broke at 11 months but Carphone Warehouse sent it to Blackberry who would not fix it, so i need to get a new phone.

Would my Blackberry plan work with a different phone such as HTC or do i need a specific non Blackberry phone?

I am pretty sure it will work, but you will not be able to use BB-specific services like BB messenger.

Tesco mobiles are usually all unlocked and pretty good value :)

i have a 02 sim only blackberry plan and use it in my iphone no problem

you just need to amend the settings in the phone for data and wap to whatever is needed for whatever type of phone youhave (iphone or android etc)

But don't o2 charge more for it being an iphone package and not a BB package, because iphones are more data heavy.

Does this mean you can 'get around' their more expensive packages by buying a sim only deal not for iphone and then converting the settings on the iphone?

    If that makes sense...

essentially yes...because blackberries use push email etc they require unlimited data access so by having a blackberry plan you can take advantage of that fact
