    Hi Lindsay

    Sorry about the rejection.

Can you remember how this was sold to you?
Such as online, or on the phone etc?

If online, it may have been a case that it was already pre-ticked and if you did not require this then to untick (to opt out of it), but its also known that the application would not allow to go any further if the ppi was not ticked for.

I would then if they have not give you the opportunity complain to the FOS, if they have said about giving any further information you can write back and enclose this and ask them to reconsider, or take a chance and ask anyway (with why you do not agree with their decision) with further information you may have and ask them to reconsider by 14 days, if then you hear no more or they do not change the decision then complain to the FOS.

It's up to you, sometimes it known for businesses to change the final decision but you cannot guarantee on that.
So therefore you will have 6 months as from the date on the final decision to complain to the FOS.

    Good luck with this.

They have stated on my letter that this is their final response and that they will not enter into any further correspondence on this matter. Is it still worth trying a 14 day letter or should I just go straight to the FOS?

Once they have issued their deadlock letter, it is time to move on unless there is some obvious mistake that they havent spotted. So, FOS is the next step if you dont like their answer.

Hi, I also received a rejection letter from Egg last week but it has invited me to revert if I do not agree/wish to discuss. There was a leaflet on FSA procedure with the letter. In view of the fact that the rejection letter arrived only about 2 days after it's initial acknowledgement of my claim, I intend to reply today & give them 14 days to reconsider failing which I will go to the FSA. This was an old (2001) card and I remember (although can't prove) that it was a pre-ticked box.

First Direct claim - successful - has offered £5,300!!! Acceptance letter on its way back to them.

M&S Money - very slow - nothing since 29th June. Original claim submitted on 10th May.

Capital One - rejection but in view of my FD success I am going to reply to inform them that I do not agree with its decision and will take it to the FSA.

You cant go to the FSA. They do not handle consumer complaints. If you dont like the response of the firm then you can refer it to the FOS.

  • Hi,
Any updates on you situation please. I have just mailed the CEO as I have had the same rejection letter. I have sent a SAR today and will send a "I don't agree with your decision letter" tomorrow. They have set a precedent by paying some people for the same reason as rejecting others. If no reply, then it's FOS time.

    Cheers

  • just want back what is mine and it will only cost them more aswell as they will be fined £500

They are not fined - it is a fee.
