The laptop is at my Mum and Dad's at the minute and doesn't register on their scales, but I do know that it's 35cm by 27cm by 0.5cm deep.
I'm going round tomorrow and my Dad is getting his fishing scales out to weigh for me so should know better then.
I'd prefer some sort of insurance I think just in case. I'll check out parcel monkey!
google is your friend
amazon is a good one as it generally lists weights0 -

Go with Parcel2Go and select the DHL service as it has the best online tracking by far - tracked to the door in any country they deliver to. You'll need a phone number from the buyer to put in the online form for booking the parcel - also a good excuse to get it for yourself. DO NOT USE ROYAL MAIL OR PARCELFORCE because apart from the lack of tracking, they aren't cheap. It'll take about 5-6 working days to get there depending if they are in a remote location in that country or not. A typical laptop never weighs more than 5kg including packaging, a netbook or sub portable around 3kg so just put down 5kg when you book it. I think the Parcel2Go DHL service is a fixed price up to 10kg anyway.
An "A3 double walled box" is good to pack laptops in, is available for around a quid from most box companies and what I use when sending to the EU. Dimensions OTTOMH are 45x32x27cm.
As for the "its a scam" comments. I've sold to Estonia, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Hungary, Poland etc and never had a problem and the laptops have been between £150-£300. The thing you have to remember about most of the former soviet bloc EU countries is that there is virtually no second hand laptop market for anything made in the last half decade and that new ones in those countries cost more than we pay.
If you are worried about being scammed, get them to pay you via IBAN direct to your bank account. It'll take a little while to get your money but it is a non-reversible transaction and with the IBAN number you give them, they can't do anything but pay money in.0 -
Thanks for the info Hammyham, that's fab!
I've just popped all the details in and it's quoting £40, eeek! Is there anything I can do as I've only charged £25 or do I just have to put it down to experience do you think?0 -

Ignore me! I'd put the wrong weight in. It's £29 which is OK0
