We've used them from about 3 months to now - DS is nearly two but quite small for his age. As others have already said the bags are impossible for them to kick off so they stay warm through the night - DS now has a thin duvet as well as we are going to have to stop using the bags soon and we want him to get used to it.

We had a cot bed for DS and he used to be quite mobile around it so blankets would have been a nightmare.

The other advantage is it stops the little monster climbing out of their cot!

I don't think we ever bought one new - all ours came from NCT nearly new sales.

  • One of the best inventions for babies/toddlers. Stops them overheating or kicking blankets off and getting too cold. Less work in terms of bedding, helps to contain them once mobile. I always get Grobag ones - come with little room thermometer which is useful. TK Max usually have at discounted price as well so worth looking.

We had a travel one which was very useful if we were out somewhere and DS had fallen asleep. You can lift baby and with some faff (though not too much) fit into carseat as had holes that carseat straps thread through - not easy but just about doable without waking child. Ditto once you have arrived somewhere.

I used 2 types summer weight and slightly larger tog one for winter.

yep another resounding yes from me - they are brilliant. i bought some thick winter ones from mothercare which were pricey but her summer one i bought off ebay and it was in perfect condition

i used them on my daughter until she was about 14 months old, then opted for the warm sleepsuit fleecy things. she won't keep blankets etc on her- she's like me and doesn't like to be 'caged in', so even now she's 2 1/2 she's still in a sleepsuit in her big bed

Brilliant things! Both my babes used them from 1 month up until they went into a big bed at 3. Wouldn't be without them! Always tend to put mine with a blanket for babe to cuddle up to...they are different togs for summer and winter. And they are also great for holidays/nights away as baby is used to them and they have the right smells etc. makes setlling in a strange place a lot easier...good luck with babe...
  • If you have a TK Maxx near you try them for stock - I have recently bought a 0-6 month (ex mothercare) for £10 & I have also seen the original grobag ones from there too for £10. You could also try Tchibo - they do great ones for the summer for around £6 - just need to keep checking their site for when they have stock!
Both my children used them & I would also recommend getting a few for those times when you need a spare if they have had a nappy spill or been sick!
    Good luck with baby!

Growbags for our DD and DS only worked while they were very small. Once they could move about they got their legs tangled up and woke up very frustrated. We moved onto and still use the warm zip up fleecy suits. (known in our house as fuzzies) :rotfl: They are like a big fluffy babygrow that goes over the cotton babygrow or pyjamas. They are very warm and child can still move about freely in bed and boy do ours fidget at night. They have these and nothing else as they seem to stay toasty warm all night. We have no Double Glazing either so they must work. Ours came from Debenhams or Woolworths or mothercare and I have seen Thomas Ones new on Ebay for £4.99 Hope this helps ours wont go to bed without their fuzzies on in colder weather.....

I used gro bags with both mine, but now DS is 1 he's got a cot duvet which he seems to really like and has a good night's sleep with. But before that the gro bag was invaluable for the little monkey.

Grobags are really excellent. The room themometer that comes with them also tells you how to dress baby so that they are at the right temperature. They also do Travel grobags which have holes cut in them so that you can feed through straps for a car seat or a pushchair. These are brilliant if you have to transport a baby near bedtime, you can get them into the grobag at one place, and then when you get them home put them straight into their cot. They also double up as cosytoes for the pushchair when it is really cold.

They are absolutely brilliant and I've seen them really low priced on ebay. We've got one from Tesco, one from Asda and an original Gro bag one off ebay - the Tesco one seems to be the best.
