Are you a business seller?

If not, and you did not sell the item on BIN, then you do not have to refund the customer. As goodwill, you may wish to, but you do not have to refund the customer posting back to you.

Ooh, what is different about BINs? Can't seem to follow the link (my carppy laptop keeps freezing... 3 weeks after the warranty has run out :mad:).

You definitely don't have to refund any postage though (if it is the buyer's choice to return, and not actually faulty/N A D, etc). I've bought a couple of things from Dorothy Perkins before that didn't fit right, and they don't refund any postage costs - I looked into it as it seemed quite mean at the time, lol.

With regards to the Dorothy Perkins things though, I'm sure they were in the wrong if they would not refund your postage. I remember there was a discussion about it on the mystery shopping thread a couple of weeks ago because there was some jobs that involved buying some products from the clients website and returning them, and some shoppers were told they would not refund the postage that had originally played.
I'm sure when I looked it up at the time, and read the links that had been posted there, so long as you notify them of your decision to return it within X days (7 or 14 maybe?!?) then under DSR legally they had to refund it.

I usually have them quite quick, although have waited about a month before too. I think I queried it once, after waiting a month or so, only to find it arrive the next day!!
I'm sure they said that they send out vouchers once a month sort of thing, rather than as and when they are ordered. So potentially if they send out at the end of the month every month, and you ordered at the start you could get them the same time as someone who ordered mid month or a couple of days before they send them out.

I think they say you should receive them within 4 weeks, so maybe they send them out every 4 weeks rather than once a calendar month. Has it been 4 weeks + a few days to allow for postage since you ordered your voucher?

I know the October thread is running away already ... but thought I'd post on here to keep this one moving as not all of us have yet reached target, and there is still a few more days to go yet (okay,,,, 2 days .... but you get the drift :rotfl:)

I have a question .... so is the oracle that is Aesop around ? How long does it take usually for McCshills to send out vouchers ? I've got enough to cash out an Am*zon one, will it be in time to count for September ... or will I have to suffer the defeat of being an ant's breath short of target for the second month running :o:rotfl:

Nat - Give it till Friday so you can say you have waited 5 weeks, which is a whole week more than what they state, then give them an email. they do tend to reply quite quickly I've always found.

GA - I think my voucher took just short of a week from when I ordered it.
We also ordered OHs near the end of last week and we haven't had it yet.

Well I googled it and ended up here... https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/47171309#Comment_47171309 Looks like they are getting out of refunding postage on technicalities (instore vs online) - all legal, but a bit mean . They abide by the distance selling regs, but only if you post it back (and cover the costs). I did the same as the OP, returned instore as I knew I'd have to foot the return postage bill otherwise... but lost out on the original postage costs by doing that - lose/lose situation!

They brag about free returns on their website (inc taking instore) but don't say anywhere that they will keep your original postage costs if you do it that way! Starting to go off DPs again now, especially after reading that thread - I know they are entitled to do it all, but it really is mean
