Guess-estimates on postage

If you list as RM delivery & then use a courier you stand a very good chance of getting low stars.
Several people on here don't like courier delivery & tend to steer clear of seller who use couriers.
I agree. I had a seller who listed RM on his ebay ad and then sent the parcel by courier. The courier would not attempt a redelivery so I had to travel 60 miles to get the parcel. It ended up being more expensive than buying the item new from a shop.
OP - you really need to just take this on the chin as everyone else has said. I am sure many of us have done this at some time. I have occasionally messed up and ended up out of pocket. I have had the odd seller ask me for more money and I was not pleased as it meant the item cost more than I budgeted for. Just use this as a lesson in not estimating. There really is no need to estimate if you have some scales and the RM website.0 -
a lesson learnt here i think, never ever list an item if you do not know how much the postage will be.
if you have any doubts about postage then hold off listing the item until you are 100% sure.0 -
How are you ever going to be able to post this parcel?top_drawer wrote: »
I resent the implication that I didnt bother to get the postage right because I am lazy. I work full-time, I live miles from a post office and I dare to spend my Saturday volunteering at a local event planned months in advance. Thanks for the advice.
I'm afraid selling on Ebay has to be done in a businesslike way. As a seller you have to be able to send it in a timely manner and take responsibility for correctly listing.
If work or other commitments make this difficult or impossible then maybe Ebay is not for you. Buyers are not interested in your life and circumstances, they just want what they bought delivered to them.0 -
You could always ask the buyer if they would mind you using a courier, if not then you'll just have to cover the extra couple of quid!
