The only HD price drop that I've heard of is that a HD subscription will cover all multiroom boxes at an address from September, rather than the current system of having to pay an extra HD sub per box that a customer wishes to receive HD broadcasts on.

I don't forsee Sky dropping the HD subscription fee until HD is considered the norm.

It was talked about by the Sky bloke who came across to train us up in HD Installs back in 2006,but I can't see it being dropped until the majority of subscribers have the HD.

Providing you get an HD box (which shouldn't be a problem as Sky supply their HD boxes as standard now) then you will be able to receive the HD varients of the channels you mention regardless of whether you hold a Sky HD subscription or not. It is worth noting, however, that currently not all content available on these HD channels is broadcast in HD.

Channel 4 HD is particularly bad for not broadcasting much HD content, with the exception of films, while ITV HD is particularly bad for not broadcasting films in HD.

I don't believe you would receive ITV2, 3 & 4's HD channels without a subscription, although I may be incorrect about this.

    .

No you're correct, you also don't get E4 HD either, which I think is a bit of a cheek considering they are intendant channels not connected to Sky being HD versions of FTA channels.

How can you tell if an HD channel is not broadcasting in HD. My TV seems to show everything in 1080i - is this perhaps because it may be upscaling?
