Fussy eaters?

  • Hiya - maybe change the nut roast to another veggie option "in case" the nut allergy comes on. For the others. The menu has been decided, if you dont like it, dont eat it. Thats my approach - my wedding is next friday. :p

    Good Luck with mum.

  • The other veggie option is cauliflower cheese or mushroom risotto which neither of the veggies liked

If the veggies themselves have approved the option then stick with it.

We had a guest with a severe nut allergy (non-vegetarian) and had nut wellington - she didn't puff up, even though she was on a table with a veggie!

ignore her and never mention it again and hope she doesn't either - your menu sounds lovely

I wasn't going to invite half the people to the main meal as we wanted to keep it small but her and her big gob have already invited 22 extra people.

    Is she paying for them?

The nut roast was agree on by the veggies as i took them to the venue to choose.
I really don't want to order salmon for mains as the smell makes me want to wretch but I can just about stomach the chilled stuff.
Then don't have it at all - I don't think it really goes with cheeseboard for afters, and I'm always sceptical about wedding salmon being really fresh and chilled.

The ones creating all the bloody problems were not actually invited by me.
They opinions aren't worth a pile of horse poo then.

Maybe I should employ a doorman and make him turn away those without invites.

    Yes.

Personally I would drop the nut roast anyway and pick another veggie main as 90% of veggies I know don't actually like nut roast! That said if you think your veggies will like it, stick with it - it's your day after all.

It's also not very popular with non-veggies who might like a lighter dish or who prefer not to eat meat unless they know it's free range or been blessed by the magic crystal shaman.

    Maybe a nice mushroom stroganoff?

Also re nut allergy - is it a nut allergy or a peanut allergy (peanuts are legumes not nuts)?

we'll be using the 'chin up, jog on' approach. (Love it BTW).

I like it to, and the strange thing is that the Mrs says I don't do sympathy very well, can you believe that?

Your mum sounds like mine, I had people at my wedding I had never met before.
I like your menu, it's a bit different to the norm, the only thing I'd ask would be if the grown ups can have the jelly and ice cream too as I wouldn't be keen on the other desserts but unless you were a really close relative or best friend I wouldn't say anything :)

I would just do a deal with some child on the table fro a swapsies
  • I try not to take my mum anywhere to be honest. The day is going to be awkward enough really after i've ejected my step dad from top table and refused entry to the people she has invited. You wouldn't think its my wedding the way she has been carrying on, she's had something to say about everything. I have banished her from seeing the dress and from touching my sisters dress (she once made a few dresses for a production and now thinks she's a seamstress) she took it upon herself to alter my prom dress as it was too long, she took about 8 inches off it in the end and I looked like a total !!!!!!, infact she seems to have a phobia of any skirt or trouser leg that gets with in a inch of your ankle bone.

She's just a blithering annoyance really.
