I guess I am too late for the Saving Record since I only have half the year now to amaze myself (hopefully) but it's better to be late than never eh?;)

Hi El Roi - I am sure j_ob won't mind - the more folks saving the better! Besides, it could be that you start your savings year on 1st August, say...? Keep a spreadsheet and every time you make a saving, pop that money into a real savings account if you can.

Congrats on the new arrival!!! x

Thanks - the new arrival and the school holidays and trying to keep my eldest entertained has meant that it's been harder to keep track of my savings and to log them on here as regularly! :o

  • Hi

I have been reading the forums for a little over a week, I have beenoff work recuperating from a small op and have gone through our finances and made the following savings instantly.

Changed our car insurance saving a whopping £380 per year
Changed our Energy Supplier saving £300 per year
Changed broadband supplier saving £240 per year
Cancelled the PPI on my loans saving an astonishing £5000 in interest. (Arranged alternative cover for a fraction of the price.) I have also made a request to have any payments refunded as I was misold this product.

I am amazed that I had not had the foresight to look at these things previously. I am sure with the inspiration from MSE I have gained I can save considerably more.

I am going to use the extra cash to overpay my loans and then my mortgage. Long term plan to be debt free within 4 years and then start on the mortgage.

    Thank you all!:money:

I have checked our latest total of savings made due to this MSE website for 2007 and it's... £958.01.

If I include the money made from clicking links every day on cashback sites it's £1,130.42.

    The latest savings:

£10 a month from switching from BT to Virgin (2 for £20 package)
    £6.50 free Orange Wednesday movie
    £125 Carphone Warehouse / E2Save mobile cashback

Should get £20 from Quidco next month, plus £50 from Freefivers from clicking links that I do everyday. Also expect to save £40-£50 on food shopping as we're away 4-11 September.

In the next 2 months I will also get another mobile phone cheque for cashback...

Lynzpower's thread has reminded me to update my savings! :o

Savings up to Sunday 2nd September:

Today, I've signed up to the National Lottery online via www.quidco.com. I've had to deposit £5 but I've received a free Euromillions lottery ticket worth £1.50! :j I should also get £4 in cashback from Quidco if it tracks. :) (I've also got the chance of winning the lottery next Sat!!) ;)

I joined Consumer Pulse last week. I've logged in and listed my purchases and I've already earned enough points to claim a £10 voucher tomorrow. :T

Had my subscription copy of She mag saving £2 off high street prices.

Bought a bundle of baby clothes at the car boot last weekend for £2.50 and also had some *free* from Freecycle! :D Saved at least £20 if I'm being modest.

Bought lots of nappies and wipes from Boots using my Advantage points saving £16.76

Ordered my shopping online from Tesco last week using a 1000 bonus points code and also £5.97 worth of BOGOFs.

At Morrisons - saved £15.43 on BOGOFs this week and used a 50p coupon from the Morrisons baby club

    I don't think I've forgotten anything!

    Total - £72.16
  • Wow, jo_b, that's brilliant!

Can you recommend Consumer Pulse? I wondered about joining but haven't got round to it yet.

    Happy Saving

I only joined last week. I signed up using this link: http://www.testandvote.com/consumerpulse/index.php?pn=2

It seems like a very quick way of earning vouchers and it's run by TNS who have a very good reputation. I'll let you know how long it takes for my first £10 voucher to arrive!

Forgot to add in a couple of savings yesterday:

Took advantage of the 3 months free RAC membership mentioned in Martin's email. If I assume I could have got this basic cover for £28 for the year, that's still £7 saved. :)

Also ordered 40 free prints from a Jessops offer saving £4. Lots of lovely pics of my new baby and his big brother! :T

    Total- £11
