Hi all,
We're doing a 'Are you allowed to buy cheap school uniforms?' poll next week. Have we missed any options? Click reply and let us know. Thanks!
Does your child's school let you buy from the supermarkets or are you restricted to a specific shop?
Which of these is closest to your situation (you can vote in each category if you've children at different schools)?

With regards to the specific supplier option,
Our local schools have some items which can only be purchased through the school itself. I know this could be classed as the specific supplier, but it would be interesting to know if this is the case in other areas.0 -

I buy the jumpers with logos on them from the school but a new shops has started supplying them so I'll go there from now on. And I buy supermarket polo shirts.
Even if there was a rule I'# break it - after all its not compulsary to wear one.0 -
Both at state junior schools: whole uniform can be generic or lacking (it's all voluntary at primary lever) but they encourage the wearing of branded sweatshirts or cardies.
I have to say that the branded stuff seems to wash and wear really well- I know people who are onto the third child in the same shirts, and there ares uniform sales each term where everything costs £1 and 50p goes to the PTA.They call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.

I went to a private secondary school and although everything had to be from a set supplier they did have a choice of either new or second hand - obviously the latter was cheaper and also a good way of getting rid of stuff that was outgrown.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

My child goes to a state Primary school and can buy from anywhere as long as it is the right colours. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0

Normally key stage 2 - starts at 7-8 years.
Also need to consider some counties have a middle school system although I'm not sure that much detail is needed. Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -
But then it is irrelevant.. uniform cannot be enforced at state primaries... which is probably a good thing the price they charge for substandard items!
Secondary I buy as little as possible.. £15 for one polo shirt is extortion!!!! though £150 for a blazer for year 10 and 11 is more so!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
At my childrens state primary school (junior) it can come from anywhere but they prefer the jumpers and PE kit to be logo'd
At my DDs state secondary school everything including trousers, but not shirts have to be purchased from the school supplier.0
