I'll have to produce two books, one including Mean Machine, on which He'll be 1-10, and another book showing all runners excluding Mean Machine:-)

Whether house prices fall or rise lets not expect things because it was like that in the past. If that was the case then we would all be shafted. Why cant people accept the possibility that we could possibly be entering into a paradigm shift.
Have you been reading some dodgy managment books? I'd prefer a paradiddle shift myself.
As for kids rioting because they cant afford a house, this is rubbish and it again shows the greed in this country -- if I cant buy it, I'm going to steal it...
You seem to be contradicting yourself. Firstly you say it's rubbish then you say that this is greedy. I like the inversion of the normal state of affairs, so now those greedy and stupid people who can't afford are greedy because they want something they can't afford.
I dont now which way house prices are going and to be frank I dont really care. The underlying problem I see in this country is how people think they can spend when they cant afford it. The number of new cars I see on the roads or parked in tiny houses amazes me as do the way people spend on their credit card without taking into account the potential consequences. Not surpisingly the next question they ask themselves is why should houses be expensive.
You seem to draw a lot of conclusions about someone's personal finances from the size of their house.
Everyone talks about how an average wage should be able to buy an average house. If I had my way and could influence the economy a better more fairer criteria for being able to buy a house would be that only people with straight A's at school and a 2.1 at uni can be able to buy a house. Why??
Because in my opinon everyone should earn the right to buy a house and not expect it. Wouldnt we all love to see all the school drop outs stay in rented acommodation all their lives?? OK maybe a bit extreme but its a different flavour to the constant average wage vs average house whinging.
If a school drop-out has a good idea and makes a good income from it then they can afford to buy a house that they want. I think that's fair. Money is taken as a universal exchangeable token of value, regardless of its source.

Personally I find your attitude a bit nasty. For example, telling people they were thick and should learn to read in earlier posts. Constant references to the size of your house and your income. Calling people who can't afford a house greedy. Expounding the idea that only those with a certain level of educational acheivement would be worthy in your view, despite the poor grammar of your own posts.

I agree that some people have unrealistic expectations and their personal finances are a mess. However, I think working in a world where secretaries are earning £40K has distorted your view of the world.

  • Like I said times change.

Everyone expects things because it was like that in the past. Everyone cant comprehend why they should live differently because the older generation didnt have to.

In the past no one had cars yet everyman and his dog has one today.

In the past there was not a NHS service yet everyman and his dog to some extent can get medical treatment.

I can't believe you've just written that! Thats is discrimination in the extreme. But it's also the exact attitude I expect from someone who presumeably has lived a cushy little middle class existence, courtesy of mummy and daddy. Open your eyes and broaden your mind! As I believe another poster has already mentioned, not everyone has access to the best education and support. For the record, I didn't get straight As at school, I grew up on a council estate, I didn't go to uni and so don 't possess that all important 2:1 - well, I must be the scum of the earth who deserves to stay in rented accommodation for the rest of my life! Guess that means I could never own a nice car either, or go on nice holidays, or do anything that would be deemed 'out of my league'. Don't worry, i'm happy to be a prole for the rest of my life so the likes of you can keep me in my place.

Sorry for the rant guys, but I despise fascism and narrow-mindedness
  • I can't believe I just read that trash. I have A's at A-Level and a 2:1 at Uni. Yet I have choosen to work part-time because I have a young family. If I worked full time I would earn 27,000 a year but I don't. So guess what I live in a council house!! Yes thats right even people who you supposedly believe should have it easy and be able to buy a house actually live in amongst the so called trash that you seem to think the world is full off.

Yes I probably could afford to buy a twee little cottage and have a brand new car but I would have debt up to my eyeballs and I would have an unstable life for my kids.

One day I will have my own home but don't say other people should or shouldnt have a right to buy a home just because the have or havent got A-Levels and a Degree. Its disgraceful. Your probably a bank manager with no sense of humour.

Fair enough, although a tad hyperbolic.

    Fascism
    1. (sometimes initial capital letter) a governmental system led by a dictator having complete power, forcibly suppressing opposition and criticism, regimenting all industry, commerce, etc., and emphasizing an aggressive nationalism and often racism.
    2. (sometimes initial capital letter) the philosophy, principles, or methods of fascism.
    3. (initial capital letter) a fascist movement, esp. the one established by Mussolini in Italy 1922–43.
