Have you tried the x64 version yet Santer? Haven't had a chance to even test 6 properly since I only got the option to update earlier.0 -
Haven't used x64 because everything is 32 bit here0

Yes, beta is Firefox-7 now.
The beta channel seems stable enough to use full-time.
Thanks to every one who has responded thus far.
Just loaded this certainly seems quicker at the moment.
I did notice that it downloaded the app really slowly something around the 35kbs?????/
Any ideas why it would come down so slow."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

Is the memory usage getting worse over time, i.e. leaking?
It does take up more memory these days (on machines that can handle it), but a big part of it I believe is that it uses the RAM as cache.
Put it on a machine with 512mb of RAM, and it'll use 45mb memory. With 4gb of RAM, it consistently takes over 300mb. High memory usage doesn't necessarily mean poor performance.0 -
Mine is currently using 100k on 2.5GB I will watch it."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

The first thing I saw to " fix " the memory leak was this but apparently it just swapped it to the paging file

Seems there have been numerous attempts at correcting it and some are probably the work of descendants of the author of The Emporer's New Clothes
A few are going with this

Also this

Then there is this

This seems to be a feasible offering, whilst not a fix, it does advise you when to restart the browser
http://betanews.com/2011/07/06/is-firefox-hogging-ram-memory-restart-can-fix-that/
" it displays Firefox's current memory consumption in the Add-ons Bar. This immediately reveals how Firefox's memory demands increase over time, regardless of how it's being used. When Firefox's memory consumption hits 500MB, the text will change to red to warn you that it's in danger of overrunning the rest of your system, telling you it's time to shut down and restart Firefox to free up most of the memory it's snaffled. Obviously the same people who wrote all those useless memory optimisers that would actually worsen performance despite producing great stats.
I can remember when Firefox took up 50mb average, but the performance improved noticeably when the memory usage suddenly spiked.0
