Ebay people not reading the listings

  • I had a fella buy a car from me on ebay when item location was listed as Newport, Wales. Then he moaned at me and wanted a discount because he thought Newport was near Kent and it'd cost him loads to catch a train - he wanted me to knock his train fair off the price.

I told him to get lost but did kindly offer to pick him up from the train station though. To be fair, even though he moaned, he still turned up to buy the car.

I have seen several listings which stated 'collection only' and in the questions someone has asked if the seller can arrange delivery and s/he has said 'yes'. So it's not stupid to ask - only to assume.

My pet peeve is people who set their listings so that in the p&p section it says 'free' but in the listing it says 'collection only'.

Also, if people had a bit more nous they would realise that they could usually get a much better price if they work out how to send the item. I can imagine it would take a bit of work to research how to send large or heavy items but if you are in the middle of nowhere (i.e. small catchment area) your market is going to be much smaller if you will not send.
There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.

Alot of 'collection only' auctions the seller is willing to allow you to book a courier to collect the item. This way if it gets damaged in transit it is you who has to deal with the courier.

I have alot of variation listings on ebay which gives a list of about 5 sizes, in the auction it says 'select your size above then click buy now'... constantly get emails asking what size the item is
