sorry to ask what will undoubtedly be a stupid question, but what does SEL stand for? i assume it's something to do with the shelf price?

if the shelf price says one thing and the packet says a higher price, do they have to go by the shelf price?

see, i don't understand this post ... it was on the other thread ...

    Tesco Topside Beef roasting joint.

    Sel: £6.xx
    Scan: £5.xx

SEL removed from Bromley by Bow store London

    Full R&R for 3 joints totalling £26.34

so it actually scanned for LESS than the shelf price? how do you get R&R in that case?

    Confused!!!

    thank you.

    Shelf Edge Label.

And no, that example makes no sense. Either the poster put it the wrong way round or got lucky.

  • Hi been in my local last night

beef topside joint with labell on shelf saying special buy £6.28 was £8.28 labbel on it syaing £2 cheaper than tesco own topside
same joint sold in isle £8.28 but without special buy sign .

I had similar thing before christmaas on some steak and I got full r+r

this time I was told "no its a promo and its not the £8.28 because it does not say special" but i pointed out it the same meat same label just not saying £2 off

    anyway to ther point
    would not give r+r

    where they right?

well thats what I thought but would not budge
they also told me about meat i had last time I should not have had they knew the exact cost of my last r+r
    apparantly

they say because it says special buy that gets them out of it

They have different barcodes. So technically at least, they are different. However, I can understand where the confusion comes from - I hate these promotions myself as the SP product is often very similar to the standard stock line.

dont all meat products of same item have diff bar code ?

If item is same label and the description is the same just one has £8.28 and the other has £6.28 saying £2 cheaper than normal then ?
    thanks for fast reply
