not been in since last Saturday, but only found out today that I was getting the r&r on a gift card!!

    I am moving soon ;)
The sign of a wasted life is a tidy house, Welcome to the chaos!
  • I have to agree. It is all about the attitude. Had a similar problem on a joint of beef at the weekend. As I had already got a chicken r&rd and some cat food (which I would have normally bought) , I left it, making them feel happier, got home and e-mailed CS. Got a reply today full r&r in the post! I am happy, they are happy. r&r lives on!!!

    Well Done Louise!!
  • Hi, I am new to this refund and keep product business but I have a few q's if you could spare a min.

    1) Is this illegal to intentionally visit a tesco store to do this? IE look for out of date items, price check them and pay then r&r?

    2) How does the store know that you haven't just put that label there yourself?

If this is not illegal could you in affect just buy as many things as you want and get them for free, as long as you are overcharged of course! ;)

    Thanks for your time.

Hi..No it isnt illegal to visit a Tesco store to intentionally RandR, although it is illegal for Tesco to intentionally or unintentionally over charge you.

If Tesco catch you checking the prices beforehand, they will accuse you of trying to defraud them, this isnt true, but may make you forfeit your RandR.

The Policy doesnt say you cant scan your items beforehand, but it does say "if we overcharge you".......no qualifications follow.

The store doesnt know really, but doesnt often accuse us of this.
(If youve seen a typical Tesco SEL....its a little more complicate than the old style "36p each" signs of old.

There are incidences where people have been accused of this....Tesco must produce evidence to back this up however,

The more items you buy at once, the more attention you draw to yourself.

RandRing in moderation, leads to a longer RandR life.

Having said that, if the recent strong rumours are true, Policy change on 1st Feb, could see the finish of RandR.
    Couponing....."every little hurts"

Half of the people can be part right all of the time, Some of the people can be all right part of the time.
But all the people can't be all right all the time. .........I think Abraham Lincoln said that.

  • Thanks a lot for this. Will have to get as much as I can before policy change!
  • From discussions with TS I don't believe this to be true. If you see an item at x price in a store and you are charged a higher price then they have broken the law. In the first instance they do not have to serve you, but once mnoney has changed hands and then they have a contract with you and if they have charegd you a higher than advertised price then they have thus broken the law. Unless TS is wrong?

Fluffy's wrong because it's a criminal offence to give misleading price indications (Consumer Protection Act). If a misleading price indication is given, the store has the right to refuse to sell the item to you. They then must remove the item from sale or correct the misleading price indication.
In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?

Sorry if this is the wrong thread - slightly related to the legal discussions but not R&R.

What is the legal situation if Tesco promises 1000 clubcard points in return for something, but fails to credit those clubcard points even after 3 months of phone calls / emails and when they have a clear cut obligation to do so?

I'm about to escalate something and would like to know about the legalities - where points, rather than goods or sterling are involved, is it still a criminal offence and what law / act has been infringed?

Thanks for any help or redirection!

How did you know they had not credited the points? Is there a website that shows you clubcard transactions individually or do you just keep all your reciepts and add them up?

The reason I ask is that if Tescos are screwing us with the prices how do we know they are not doing the same with clubcard points?

    Regards

    Speedy
  • I'm a tad confused, I wonder if anyone can help.

I've read the posts that explain the process of the label being £x and the product scanning at £y, but am reluctant to try it without looking like a fool at tesco.

On my last visit I saw a fresh beef 4 rib pack. I don't recall the exact price, but the pack said £3.50/kg and the shelf label said £3.40/kg. Would this qualify, or would it have to be the other way round with the shelf saying the more expensive price? Also, with the label on the product being specific and having the barcode, will it scan for that individual item disregarding the SEL?

I think i've confused myself more now. I need a lie down.

Hey all, Just a quick question.

As today is teh day when tesco stop alot of the electrical goods sale there may be a few r&r oppertuinities :)

If for instance they have left one of the yellow stickers on the shelf edge which states the end of the promotion does this count?

I know the usually do take these away but just a thought i had.

    Cheers

If there is one price displayed that is lower than the price you get charged then yes you can get a refund. It all depends on whether it scans at the higher or lower price.
