"Both the hardware and the software are not being supported going forwards" not exactly correct.

They still plan to develope and support WebOS, they have decided (for some reason) to drop the touchpad and Palm Pre phones. (look at palminfocenter.com/news/10168/hps-dewitt-speaks-on-the-future-of-webos-and-hardware-support/ )

I work for HP - but was annoyed that they didn't offer these deals to the staff first - we got some offers, but it looks like some none HP staff got them aswell through the EPP program they offered.

Hopefully they will handle to Palm Pre 3 sale better.

    Cheers

Nobody should buy any hardware on a promise of future support from HP - last week they were "doubling down" on web OS and telling people they were in for the long-haul, Dewitt found out that WebOS hardware had been scrapped via a press release. Buying it with the idea that support would be a bonus but not an expectation.

SupereTrader was taking pre-orders, but now has a note that says “Unfortunately the HP Pre 3 stock is no longer available to us from our supplier.”

That still leaves 9 retailers by my count that either are selling them now (but at a higher price) or have indications that they will start selling them once the stock situation is clearer (i.e. tomorrow, most likely).
