I've really given up on both the pad and the phone. I really need a new phone as mine is falling appart but I think it will have to be something else under £100

On the subject of older Pre models, something odd is happening.

A couple of days ago, the Pre 2 was available from Play and eBuyer for £150. Then the order button vanished from the Play page; but, as they don't show stock, I thought maybe they'd sold out.

eBuyer had well over 100 in stock though and looked to be selling around 5 a day... until last night. I checked in around midnight and, during the few hours since I'd last checked, stocks had dropped to just three. And now (11:46 02/09/11) they are showing just one remaining.

So what's caused this apparent dramatic run on stock? Could it be people mistaking the Pre 2 for the 3? A sudden outburst of retro chic? Or has a lot of stock been returned to HP because the long-talked-about price drop on the Pre 3 is about to materialise?

Pure speculation but any other ideas? Is it an omen or not? And, if so, is it any more reliable than swirling tea leaves and counting jackdaws? *grin*

(Worth noting, maybe, that the Pre 2 was the 16Gb model: all Pre 3s seem to be 8Gb.)

mobiles.co.uk (part of CPW) appears to be selling contracts with Pre 3 and Touchpads (funny how they have them available to "give away" with contracts but they are out of stock to buy). Don't forget TCB/Quidco for cashback as well.
