Yep, well £10.50. Mine was delivered around half an hour ago but it's going straight back.

There is no way on this earth they are charging me £10.50 a month for 24 months for a £49 phone.

A CPW boycott is in order, will teach them a lesson for buying the remaining Pre3 stock, refusing to sell it at the reduced rate and instead do them on contracts only.

I think the only way they will ever be reduced to the low price is if they are boycotted on contract. I would buy a cheap contract one £10.50 if the touchpad came free though!

Have you opened the box and played with the phone? If so, what are your thoughts on the phone?

Obviously £49 would be a great price, but how does it compare with other smartphones?

I did take it out of the box to have a quick look, I couldn't open the sealed sim card though as I'd have to keep it if I did.

I had an old o2 sim card I got for free and tested that in the phone but the sim is so old it just comes up as not recognised so didn't get to look at all the features.

From what I did get (just a prompt to call the service provider) the screen is very responsive, about the same as an iphone I would say.

One negative point I will make is that it takes an absolute age to turn on, the HP logo just sits glowing on the screen for just over a minute before going any further.

When comparing the touchpad to the ipad a few days ago, I noticed that the touchpad is very similar to the ipad as is it's os and when I unboxed the Pre3 I noticed the same thing. the box (apart from the lid) is exactly the same as the iphone box with the plastic tray for the phone, and then everything neatly stored below it with a neatly folded card.

I am wondering how hp have gotten away with how alike their touchpad + pre3 are to the ipad + iphone when samsung have had such a hard time with their products.

I still very much want a touchpad but having handled (only briefly) the Pre3 I'm not really too bothered about it going back.

Just called HP and they said they had to put that price on as thats the price in the US, however that dont have any in this counrty.

From what I gathered, they were not releasing this in the states, and all stock was within Europe.
Everyone seems to be after the TP's, but I would gladly swap a Pre-3 for a Touchpad if anyone in the North East had a Pre-3 they didnt want.

azza87 - The Touchpad and Pre3 are similar to the iphone/iPad? - The Touchpad I'll give you. HP basically copied the iPad's (1) dimensions.
However, Palm (and Handspring) were making phones long before Apple did (Treo) and indeed hold a patent which boils down to a mobile computer combined with a mobile telephone. That sounds like a smartphone to me. Palm have a lot of patents, and that's why whilst all the other manufacturers are suing each other, no one is getting involved with Palm/HP.
Anyone who knows what a Palm Lifedrive is will recognise that it was an iPod Touch before the iPod Touch existed...

Wellworthit - don't fall for that one - do a search for COMPLETED listings - just because some chancer lists a Pre3 for £400 doesn't mean it'll sell. Find out what they're selling for.

I saw one going for £500 on ebay a few days ago, whether it went over £500 or not I'm not sure but there were plenty of bids on it to get it to £500.

    I win :T :rotfl:

    I joke!
