Hello everyone!

*Pulls up comfy chair and sits down*

Just reserving my thread: I'll be back to tell you what I'm going to do with it soon! ;)

ADDED 2 DAYS LATER:

*Puts paint and rollers in cupboard and puts the kettle on*

Welcome Hovel lady and Lemon Tree: I’ve just a bit of a freshen up. Sorry it took a while.

*Makes tea and produces plate of biscuits*

Tuck in!

Right, so where was I?

Oh yes...sorting my life out.

Here goes...

Several years after earning a parlous amount of pennies for my toil, I am now about to start a decent, well-paid job. Alas, I have incurred some debt as a result not being able to survive very well on my tiny income (yes, yes, cut your cloth and all that, but it was a seriously tiny amount), and am now going to sort it out, as well as pretty much every other aspect of my life, which is in need of a serious overhaul.

Interestingly, this well-paid job (well, well-paid compared to what I had previously been earning but about average national wage) has come about by accident, and I am actually trying to get into another career altogether. To this end, I am doing some free project work which has the potential to get me into the career I want. Busy? You bet...

My first financial aim is to pay £1840 off a credit card at a humongous 21.9% APR. After some solicitous advice from the sage greenbee, I then want to establish a 'moving out' fund so that I can move out of the parental home, and then savings for a round the world trip I wish to make, and a house deposit, all on top of paying off some more debt.

Furthermore, in the ongoing war against the clutter in my bedroom, I am FINALLY making headway! :D And I am also using up my toiletries, reading the umpteen books I have collected over the years, and am watching the DVDs I have also bought.

One day, I will have just enough of what I need rather than too much of just about everything! ;)

I’m known to spend quite a bit of time at Memorygirl’s Matrix, and as it says in the introductory post, us girls can *really* natter, so I am going to try to keep as focused on money saving and related activities as I am already running my mouth off elsewhere! (That will last about 5 minutes! ;) )

I'm sure none of what I plan will happen as easily as I hope (that's life!), so welcome and join in the fun! :D

Pretty well, thanks. :) I've been a bit quiet. I need to confess my recent spends (nothing extravagent, but that's the whole point in doing this). I'll do it tomorrow now, I think - it's quite late.

Have spent the day sorting out the freezer and making an inventory so we know what is in there. And if I'm honest, I haven't don't much else despite being really snowed-under. I'm not impressed with myself.

I'd better get to bed if I'm going to get a wiggle on tomorrow.

I will, I will, I will be productive tomorrow (well, technically today)!

Welcome to diaryland SunFlower - if you like to read you might find yourself at home on the 'No more books' thread,https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2263095
Otherwise good luck on getting the debt cleared and savings started, I'm still trying to work out what I want out of a career but no doubt by the time I work it out my beloved petmale will be telling me we're moving to the other end of the country again!

Thanks, Scubaangel - I'm already unofficially following that thread (but trying not to get involved in lengthy discussions there as I already spend WAY too much time chatting on :money:!), and best of luck on the career-front as well - it's exciting to travel a lot, but it becomes a pain when it stops things from progressing in other areas.

Further news: had a massive reorganise of the freezer yesterday and as a result of that and having 6 huge mangoes to use up (and a few errant bananas), I'm drinking a mango banana smoothie with a few bits of frozen fruit added. Why did I never get round to this before - it's gorgeous! :D

Yesterday was a personal NSD, BTW.

I feel as though I have spent all day cooking, rather than doing anything that was on my 'to do' (or 'tada') list. Must stop procrastinating!

Had my first stab at HM Yorkshire Puddings today and ther results were farcical. Ah well, you live and learn! ;)

I've never managed to get HM yorkies right - I suspect its due to be being a Lancastrian and the recipe is still fighting the war!

Procrastinating is sooo much more fun than actually getting stuff done ;)

I have only made good ones in the last few months, after ten years of trying.

    1. double the eggs - one egg to quarter pint milk
    2. whisk thoroughly
    3. make sure the fat is really hot before you drop the batter in - lard or trex works well
    4. try not to open the oven door before you get them out
