Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Wednesday 24th August. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all! Up early as need to do my hair before i go to work! Spent most of last evening searching for property and trying to work out how we will afford our move. I need to find our contract to see if we can get out early. Going to knuckle down with savings and cut our food/living bill by 50%...that could get interesting!
Slow cooked pork with bbq drizzle for OH tonight, I'm not sure what i'm going to have, jacket potato probably. Lunch is a sausage pasta dish i've made.
Need to continue with my house list for the week, which is going to get longer as i need to do bits to keep the LL happy.
Have a lovely day all!

Morning all
Welcome back Moiliere, welcome LosingPatience.
Thank you for all the kind comments about my car, I'm hoping my son will be well enough to check it over soon, even if it does mean using a teaspoon to start it, as MM says I need time to sort out my options.
I sorted out the kitchen yesterday & have managed to put all my dishes & the jam pan away, today I want to sort out the freezers & defrost one of them. I also need to go to the bank & pay in 2 cheques that arrived yesterday from British Gas. I get paid at midnight tonight & I have £5.81 in my account so I've cut it a bit fine, lol.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Good luck bramble, eating/living(shampoo etc) off your stocks will cut your bills and reduce the amount you have to move with you
Morning all, day two of awful rain in KingstonI love the cold weather but hate fine rain! I'm back to work today, hence I'm actually up this early shivering my booty off drinking a coffee and checking emails!!
I had a brilliant reduced shop at Asda last night, I don't normally go as it's a bit out of the way but the f/v reductions are 75% by 3pm:j
Doing mushrooms on toast for brekkie, salad for lunch, veg stir fry for tea. OH is at hospital this eve so I plan to change the bed finally and plant tomatoes for my indoor winter veg experiment!Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -
Morning,
Still on holidays here, suffering from Jetlag at the moment so seem to up early everyday at the moment! OH is still in bed.
This is day 2 of the health/home cooked kick we're on. I made homemade spag bol yesterday and have already cooked a chilli for tonight - so feel quite smug lol. Will make the homemade pot wedges later on.
Popping into town to pick up a few items later on, then having nails done before visiting my niece and nephew!
Have a good day!

Morning everyone,
Hester sorry about your car trouble, hope that you can sort it cheaply.
Have to stay in today as someone is coming to check out my DW. I had a letter from the manufacturer saying that it could burst into flames and that they needed to check it. It is 10 years old and has shown no sign of fire yet so I am sure that it is ok but I won't say no to a free DW service!:D
Tea tonight is something with sausages, probably barbecue sauce and wedges again.
Hugs to all in need.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -

hello everyone
İ have been to the uk and back since i last contributed. İts hot and sunny here-a little bit too hot though! the temperature day and night at home stays around 29degrees with the outside being about 35.
i have had a real spending frenzy and need to get some discipline back--my weight has gone up 10lbs as well so all in all i must get back on the straight and narrow!
The wife and i are contemplating buying a holiday home but i am worried about raising loans at this time of the economic cycle There are some real bargains to be had and the exchange rate for pounds to lira is very good--we currently rent a holiday home and i see it as dead money and frustrating in the fact we cannot improve it. İ have looked at the bank rates here and they loan at about 13pc apr (1,10pc a month) which is fixed for 10 years. it confuses me because they dont quote apr's and i need to take a real long look! i can raise a personal loan in the uk for 8,5pc over 5 years but i am hesitant to raise money in the uk--its just mood!!!--any comments as to whether i should??
Not doing much today-DH has gone off to work and i am left to my own devices. İ am on holiday and should make the most of it but its 3 months of doing nothing so far and its beginning to drag!mfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.0 -
Morning,
Feel a lot better today and more awake.
One load of washing out on the line and another is in the wm at the mo. Such a lovely sunny day here yay!
Going to cook smoky pasta salad today for tea and we are going to go to the allotment after work to start sorting it out. Have also done an online shop for next week and when my sister comes to stay this weekend, I managed to avoid buying extra food on offer only the things we need to for the 7 day meal plan.
Hope everyone has a nice day x0 -
Morning all,
Day three of bathroom revamp, today we need to replace some of the floorboards which are rotten and uneven, OH discovered that the radiator had been leaking for a while, and soaked through, new rad was put on yesterday and looks fab :j, we might have a bath in by the end of the day :T, we are getting on really well, we have done all the jobs you cant see, a little bit more of that today, and then the good bit begins
Managed to wash my hair yesterday, as despite having a hat on ( dd said I looked like badly drawn boy :rotfl:) it was filthy felt so good to have clean hair.
Dinner today is roast lamb ( we have a tiny joint too !! ) which dd will prepare this morning, she is off out later for lunch with sis and mum.
I did a wash last night of the dirty work stuff we have been wearing, its on the airer atm, will try and get it on the line later on if it brightens up.
The only other os I am doing is to hoover through at the end on the day, every thing is covered in a fine layer of dust where OH had to use the angle grinder yesterday !! Oh well it will be worth it, better get on xxxx0 -
Morning all,
HH - sorry about your car troubles, hope the spoon does the trick for now.
Moorhen - Fab news on the free DW service. Hey maybe they might find a fault and give u a nice new DW! ( I mean that in the nicest way of course, I don't want u to have a fire causing fault)
Well i have now decluttered my 1st cuppa and some peanut butter on toast. Need to go get showered in a bit. DS has a speech therapist coming at 11 to do some PECS work with him and I also have a delivery coming at some point today. Hopefully they come before 11 then I can go out after lunch and take the kiddies for a forage. I think I might make some cakes today as well, just so DH has something extra to put in his lunchbox as he doesn't like the birthday cake! Also out tonight at the Jamie at Home party. Never been to one before so should be interesting plus the money the organiser raises is going to the local preschool that I'm on the committee of.
Dinner is whoopsied Jamie O burgers with chips and b.beans. Not sure on lunch yet, prob sarnies and LO B'day cake!
Right time to get off my toosh and get showered and dressed.
