Leaving a child in the car for the short time you pay for your petrol is one thing ...leaving them outside for an hour parked in the street is quite another! When my DD was a baby she was "looked after" by her paternal grandparents who told m ethey left her in their drive in the car because she had gone to sleep. She never ever went again:rolleyes:I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes

Gosh! we must be the exceptions then. I can be accussed of being very pessimistic but when you start to think that another car could crash into my car with DD in it and petrol stations have got huge tanks of petol underground and how the petrol stations could go up in flames, well i'd rather have my kid with me than trapped in a car away from me if it went whooosh! Although we'd probably all peg-it but we'd be pegging-it together.
Even our friend who occasionally takes the kids out brings the kids into the kiosk to pay.0 -

We visited family yesterday. Went out for dinner and when we returned both of their kids were asleep so they left them in the car for just over an hour...by themselves:eek:   1 child is just 3 and the other just over 12 months.
Is this Ok to do
It wasnt even on a private drive but on a public backstreet. They did keep looking out the window, but I was having kittens. I asked if this was a good idea and they said that they were locked in, so safe. After an hour, I couldnt take any more as I was feeling sick so OH looked out the window and said that he thought he saw movement.
Is it me just being paranoid, or is this now normal? My DD is 12 and Im 32 the same age as family and I dont like leaving DD in car now:rotfl:
Think I will have to say something more to them as it has really bothered me, but what do you guys think?
Thanks

OMG This is a subject I feel very strongly about and have commented on previous disscusions. This is totally irresponsible, maybe a stranger didnt attempt to abduct them, but a stupid driver could have ploughed into them, killing them, or there could be a fault with the engineer starting a spark and fire etc etc. Do these sort of people not realize just how precious these little beings are to us!!!
Sorry it makes me mad:mad:

Well, I am one of those people who make them wait behind me whist I get DD out of her chair, DS 8 to come with me, then spend a couple of minutes putting her back in her chair. Their safety means everything to me.

The kids are not in your care if you leave them unattended, it's wrong.*** Friends are angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly ***

Michaela, when you've put your petrol in, drive forwards and park up, to free the pump space (obviously not leaving the forecourt!!:)). Then go and pay, so the next person can use the pump immediately you've paid. I sometimes do this even when alone if it's busy, to let the queue move up.*** Friends are angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly ***
