Hey Guys:D
We visited family yesterday. Went out for dinner and when we returned both of their kids were asleep so they left them in the car for just over an hour...by themselves:eek:   1 child is just 3 and the other just over 12 months.
Is this Ok to do
It wasnt even on a private drive but on a public backstreet. They did keep looking out the window, but I was having kittens. I asked if this was a good idea and they said that they were locked in, so safe. After an hour, I couldnt take any more as I was feeling sick so OH looked out the window and said that he thought he saw movement.
Is it me just being paranoid, or is this now normal? My DD is 12 and Im 32 the same age as family and I dont like leaving DD in car now:rotfl:
Think I will have to say something more to them as it has really bothered me, but what do you guys think?
Thanks
PP

OMG I could never leave my children out of my sight locked in a car like that.. all it would take is someone dodgy to break into the car then they've got your car and your children! Completely irresponsible!!!Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

I saw 2 toddlers left in a car on Tesco carpark a few weeks ago, one was strapped in the back and the other was jumping around in the front and set the car alarm off. There was a police car on the car park and they went to investigate, I don't know if it's against the law but it should be.0

I would be concerned that another vehicle could ahve hit the car! HAve to admit to having left 10yr old DS in car while I nip inot the post office etc. but he is usually outside the shop and I am seconds! If it was a longer wait would make him come in with me.0

Isaw this yesterday. Two kids sat in child seats, car unattended, on a blind bend facing the wrong way on the road. Was a disaster waiting to happen.0 -

I am just so shocked:eek:    Some of your stories are horiffic too.

I don't envy you being in that position PP, I would feel awkward too. It's irresponsible imo, there is no reason why a child can't be picked up and carried inside from a car and if they wake then so be it.
I did find this article

Several years ago there was children left in a car on the front drive and the car went on fire. Does anyone remember this?
I think it's terrible. I've never left any of mine in the car, even if I was just nipping in somewhere for 5 minutes.0 -
When we were young our parents would leave us to sleep in the car if we went for a drive in the country and stopped at a pub/ cafe. But they would always sit within a few feet of the car and would never dream of doing it anywhere else. Were they wrong to do that?Saving for an early retirement!0

We came back to our car in Asda a few months ago and someone had parked their car on the hatchings at the side of us. They had left a very new baby screaming it's head off in the front seat.
By the time I had got back into Asda (the revolving doors are sooooo slow and constantly stop!) told the greeter and both of us had gone back through the revolving doors, negotiated a bus parked on double yellows, the guy was just getting back in the car.
I was horrified!0 -
Interesting one. We have, in the past, left our kids in the car if they are asleep. But only ever if parked on our driveway in full view of our front window so that we can see them - and we always make sure one of us is keeping an eye on them. We would never dream of leaving them on a public road, in a supermarket car park etc unattended.
Also, I think the most they've ever slept in the car without one of us being in the car with them is about 20 mins - they had a habit of waking up when the car stopped.0
