mobiles.co.uk - a new cashback twist..?
Options
I know that many MSE members use mobiles.co.uk and have mainly had success in their cashback claims.
However it appears to me that mobiles.co.uk have very recently changed the way they calculate which bill is required for 6month, 12 month, 18month submission of phone bill to get cashback.
Sadly I cannot post links as I am new user. But elsewhere on this site is the table for bill submission which was on the mobiles.co.uk site until a few weeks ago. If you search google for mobiles.co.uk confused cashback the MSE forum thread in question is the top result.
According to this info, for a contract I started in December, my 6th Bill would be June, which makes sense. It is 6 months later.
But the guidance as to which bill is the 6th, 12th and so on has now changed, it seems to me. The new table can be found if you type "mobiles.co.uk cashback" into google, choose the top result and click on "click here to view our cashback chart". This new info states that the month you get the contract is considered to be month 1, so bill six is effectively only 5 months after you start the contract. By this new info, the bill I send in for month 6 having started in December is now May.
It's worth knowing this info as it effectively pulls back the window of opportunity to send bill by a calendar month.
Do people see what I mean or have I got this totally wrong..?

I believe that the t&c in force when you took out the contract apply. You should have copies of them somewhere safe.0

Ben will be here shortly to explainIt's not just about the money0

Hi benebene,
Sorry for the confusion this may have caused. We have updated our cashback page in order to try and simplify the process for our customers. The issue you are referring to was identified this morning and we have amended the text which will be updated on the website tomorrow. This will align the process with our current cash back requirements.
We hope this clears up any confusion.“Official Company Representative

Many thanks all of you. MSE Forum strikes again!

Is there a link to the new wording?
Trying to find it now and its all changed on their site. Says they are working on some cashback calculator.
Personally the change would be helpful - making purchase month the first month.
What would be more helpful and simple would be to get the dates for cashback sent as part of the sale paperwork or in order email.
I would hope the existing contracts will stick to the cashback dates.0 -
You hope. I insist.0

This would be very, very good news if they are changing to the e2save time-scales.
So as long as these changes stick, e2save, onestopphoneshop and mobiles.co.uk would all have the same time-scales and IMHO better for claiming the last cashback before ending the contract.
Obviously for new contracts only and do NOT apply the new T&C's to old contracts - they stay the same (unless the change is offered and accepted).
I've always preferred e2save, but now it wouldn't matter. Looking to take out a new contract next weekend............hope there is something nice.

Nothing has changed on this, new wording states (except for a more complicated cashback page).
The month you purchased your handset will be month 'Zero'. Month 'One' is your first full billed month. So for example, if you ordered your handset in January and need to claim in month 6, we will need your July bill.
Presumably they corrected their wording as per the earlier reply by mobiles rep.0 -
They must have changed it since this morning as it stated exactly as benebene quoted "that the month you get the contract is considered to be month 1"
Bad news, I would have preferred the e2save route and the route onestopphoneshop is showing.............but still OK'ish.
2 of of 3 ain't bad (could be a catchy song title).
