Went on BT online chat and they said that I can continue with Sky Talk Freetime if I change to BT Line Rental saver.
Can anyone give me a contact number for a UK based BT billing dept, so that I can get confirmation?0 -

0800 800 150Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. I spoke to a BT advisor online as well and copied the conversation:
Kantha : Thank you for providing your account details.
Me: So if I pay for my phone calls to another company how much/month would Line Rental Saver cost me?
Kantha : The annual line rental cost is £120.00 where you can save £3.90 per month
Me: So I wouldn't be charged for not making phone calls through BT (the £1.50/month)?
Kantha : I afraid that you need to make at least two calls with BT. If your calls are not with BT you will be incurred £1.50 per month
Me: I pay my calls to another company, so how can I get the Line Rental Saver and how would I be charged for it?
Kantha : You can activate the line rental saver on the account however you will be charged £1.50 for minimum calls not to be done by BT
Kantha : Do you want to activate line rental saver now
I didn't activate the line rental saver as I wasn't sure if this was enough proof that they wouldn't cancel my current call contract with the other provider.0 -
When using this number I just get automated responses and cant get through to a person.
Is there a simple way to be able to speak to a BT person?
Tried again and didnt press any number, evenually got through and waited for about 5 mins to speak to someone.
They clarified that taking BT Line Rental Saver does not impact on using/keeping Sky Talk Freetime, so went ahead and signed on for the Line Rental Saver.0 -

Please could somebody explain how you do this, now that the option of dialling 1280 before the number has been taken away?
We used to use 1280 before a couple of calls each month, so that we didn't get charged by BT for the Call Minder and Caller Identity services. Now we can't.
Any solutions? I think someone mentioned calling the speaking clock, but would that work if you are with Sky Talk - wouldn't the call be through Sky anyway? (and probably massively expensive!)0 -

1280 has not worked with BT Line Rental and Sky CPS for a number of years.
You'll be charged £1.50pmnth extra as you cant make any calls via BT.0 -
Sky Broadband is a very good service, and Sky Talk (including line rental) undercuts BT's prices and gives you better service (eg. caller ID is free, and £5 extra gives you free calls).0
