well first day back at work didnt go too badly. on the countdown to the next holiday. got loads to use up before april! ;)

DH managed to ruin the dinner....dished up half cooked chicken. ended up having to bin the lot and make a quick tea from some other stuff in the fridge :( still was better than risking food poisoning especially when two of us havent long had a tummy bug.

another days work tomorrow, half a day wednesday then off again :)
have resolved not to work any extra shifts for the next 4 months until all my courses are done. so only working 20 hours a week...unfortunately that means 20 hours pay ;)

hope everyone gets well soon. chicken pox and shingles are nasty illnesses.

    Hello all,

feeling a bit better this morning, so was okay to go into work. Had enough students in to pass the time nicely without being run off my feet which was good! Also got a big box of books delivered so it was like christmas all over again :D

*hugs* to all the poorly people - it sounds like there are a few germs going around which I hope don't head our direction! I hope you all feel better soon :)

Today in work we opened the huge box of chocolates which we were given and boy have we let ourselves in for trouble :p Its the guylian chocolates - a whole variety of them - and they are so nice! Add to that the fact myself and OH have a good 3 boxes of chocolates at home and I'm due a huuuge sugar rush soon: who else is starting their diets in march? ;)

Hope everyone has had / is having a good day - good luck with the scan valentine

*hugs* to all, etc. etc. etc. :D

    Evening all.

Well dd is fast asleep, she hasnt had a bad day only about 30 minutes when her temp when throught the roof and she cried none stop, until i offered her one of the boys gameboy ds things to play with, then she carmed down:D

Dh isnt too good, he keeps going dizzy and is having stabbing pains all over, and has started to itch even though he only has a small rash under his arms at the minute.

Other than waiting on the poxxy today i have done 3 loads of washing, and meal planed for the next 2 weeks.I have just spent a hour going throught the indexed recipes and getting some new ideas, havent used slow cooker for a while and looking for new ideas, found some good ones now,I have done budget for rest of month, will be tight as have to pay for ds1 school trip to activity centre in Feb, but as always we will manage it.

I have to agree with the bargins to be had if you know when and where to look, sainsburys my fav for paying you to take things away in theory, but even my local shop has a great reduction section especially at about 9pm, bread at 20p a loaf, cakes and biscuits for pence, got 8 packs of mars bar cakes the other night for 10p for a pack of 6!!!! 48 cake bars for 80p!!!!:D

We too moved into a grotty horrible pit of a house, im sure crazychik will back me up on this, she helped me when we moved in, it was dirty smell and down right disgusting, but as it was the only 4 bedroomed council house we were likely to be offered we took it, and after alot of hard work it has paid off.
    If you can see past the mess you can turn a house into a home.;

Oh my goodness - dont get me started on this, You had better smells coming from the mens Toilets in a nightclub at 2am (not saying Ive ever been in one) but Im sure you get my drift. It was horndous. My heart went out for DLB's family. In between work, I helped as much as I could, Im sure she appreciated the cooked meals I came round with most nights tho. the transformation is remarkable. Credit to you!

When I first moved in my house, it was in a state (it belong to my grandparents for nearly 40rs - they had left 17yrs previously to me moving in and numerous of tenants came & went) they always kept a nice house/garden, I could see pass the mess, and still trying to restore it back. Im sure my grandad will be proud, Ive saved some of his original plants.

Been busy since fetching the kids, I finally got this court order thing sorted with the council, its still going to court, but I will only have to pay the costs, Im not in arrears, but they cant stop it now. They will just add it to my rent. :(

Ive had the WM, TD & DW on, sorted out DS clothes, bagged up which needs to be passed on, and binned the rubbish. Ive ironed the uniforms for work/school tomorrow. Done kids & mine & OH dinner. Fed all animals, and sorted out a big bin liner of clothes a friend from work passed on for DS. He's sorted now for the next 2yrs with clothes :)

Just having a cuppa and Im going to watch BB now
    Good night all
Take care - love as usual

  • Evening all and hugs to those who need them - not had a chance to read all posts properly yet just a quick skim through. DS seemed to get on okay on his 1st day at nursery today thankfully although will see how he gets on when I take him back on Wednesday.
Had a really productive day today (well it was for me anyway), managed to keep on top of the washing, drying and ironing, gave the place a general once over, bathroom cleaned and managed to change wardrobes around and clear out middle shelf of airing cupboard. Very proud of myself.
We're having a live out of the freezer month at the moment so am just heading to see what can be salvaged for tomorrow and then going to have an early night.

This thread is reminding me that I should start going to Asda again on a Monday morning, they used to knock loaves of bread out for 10p each.

Tesco used to sell off at silly prices too until the stock control staff cottoned on to the fact that two particular families used to stand guard and refuse to let anyone else near the reduced section. We didn't mind reducing stuff but these people were in night after night and it was totally unfair to anyone else so we started only reducing stuff by 25% and if it ended up in the crusher then tough! I did actually plead with the management to send it to the homeless shelter but they refused for "health and safety" reasons.

Just had the phone call I was dreading - my friend J, who we spent Christmas with, was taken in the Hospice after the festivities for "pain management" but this afternoon got the results of the scan. It's confirmed what I believed anyway, but the cancer is spreading.

She is the kindest woman I have ever met in my life. It's been a long 8mths already with the hysterectomy, the radiotherapy, the fact they put the pain down to a bit of nerve damage from the radiotherapy. We were going to plan the invitations for their 50th wedding anniversary any time soon, well, she was going to plan them, I was going to make them but I doubt she'll last until then.

If you are of that ilk, could you say a prayer for her? Seeing her in pain over Christmas was so hard, especially as she wanted everyone to be jolly! Her husband and daughter are taking it so very hard!!!!

Sorry for the downer post, I try not to do those. :o Just needed to say it out loud really - but my furbaby isn't speaking to me since I gave him the bidet treatment yesterday!
