Sharps up to 6cm are allowed, several 100ml bottles will cover what most people need.

    EasyJet help says

"In addition to the list of dangerous articles highlighted above, the following articles must not be carried on board either on the person or as cabin baggage:"

Knives with blades of any length and machetes
    Razor blades and Scalpels
    Scissors
    Axes, hatchets, arrows, darts

So that excludes personal grooming products (razors, nail scissors), and favorite kitchen knife, and favorite set of darts. For example.

Do you really use razor blades still? This refers to the old fashion loose razor blades that cam in little cases of five that you manually inserted into your razor. It does not mean the current style of razor that uses “disposable cartridge” type blades. Buy some nail scissors when you get there and through them away before you leave, It's not the jungle where you are going you can actually buy most products and it will be a a lot cheaper that £28 for checked baggage.

I'll take the kitchen knife and darts with a (large) pinch of salt!! Surely nobody is that sad?

I've just checked this and when you book the price is £30. Try it if want. My flight is London (LGW) to Crete (Her) but I tried another, Bristol to Cyprus and that too was £30 for luggage. The main web site charges you £30. Where do EJ state the luggage prices? It sounds like I have been overcharged although whether it is worth trying to claim that back is moot. I probably waste more on the phone call, not mention hours of my life in a phone queue I'd never get back.

I booked 3 weeks ago from Manchester & paid £28 per return bag. Just looked at the site again & it is still £28. But when I input London as departure airport it is indeed £30! Makes a change for "down south" departures to be more expensive!! My bag is travelling further so is cheaper per mile!

Don't understand why you were charged £30 for a case. Current EJ charges are £14 per case per journey leg (ie £28 return per person). They reckon they will charge double this (ie £28 per leg) if you opt to pay at check-in rather than pre-book online.

I was also surprised, because the last time I booked with them (in March, I think), it's was £18 per bag, return.
I've just booked from Liverpool and it was £30, so it's not a question of south/north

I'm going for 6 days, but I have to bring back stuff, so can't really fly with hand-luggage only :(

I have no idea how people go for a week or two weeks on holiday with only hand luggage, hand luggage is tiny!

The trick is to go somewhere hot & cheap. We do 5 months with hand luggage.

This straying away point which is:

It costs £30 / case when you book the flight (from some airports) but it looks like it would only cost £28 to add cases online after booking.

Yes, it may well be possible to make do with hand luggage. Against that has to be set the extra cost of re-buying nail scissor, knives, razor blades, darts, sun tan lotion and small size shampoo etc.. Plus paying top price or more for such. I'd also question the statement that cartridge blades aren't razor blades. The easyjet pages doesn't say that.

Yes I'd like not to have to pay for hold luggage but for one case it works out as £10/head for the 3 of us on a holiday that is more than £400/head all in. Our balance is that this is worth it for the extra space and convenience. Others will make their own choice.

But, this post was on that it looked to me to be possible to save £2, not the pros and cons of hold baggage. I'd be interested to have it confirmed that you can add hold baggage for £28 and there is no extra charge (e.g. admin fee).
  • FWIW, I paid £22 for 1pc hold luggage for a Liverpool-Berlin flight last night (added after the original booking date). I guess the actual price depends on all sorts of factors...
