When you press withdraw you have to put bank card details in not sort code and account number.

The reason why his brother doesn't have a bank account is probably because he doesn't exist or he is not aware of his brother using his name. The player is likely a fraudulent player.

It is not just current accounts that cheques can be paid into!

If he has ID then open a savings account. OK, it will take a few days to clear for withdrawal but it will be done legitimately.

why would you put a bet on when if you win, you have no way of taking winnings?
if he was that bothered, he would open an account, cash the cheque at those special shops, or visit their offices and pick up cash.
    i too, smell fraud...

Gambling sites are usually very hot on money laundering, so will not pay out to anyone other than their account holder. The usual way that they make a payment is via the method used to deposit initially - again to prevent their sites being used to move money about without a clear trail.

How did your brother make his deposit to them, and which gambling site are we talking about?

They will usually need to verify the identity of their account holder before paying out. One reason is to ensure that they are not a minor.

Where these sites offer introductory bonuses then they also want to ensure that these offers are not being abused -eg the account holder opening further accounts in his father's/mate's/dog's name etc to obtain multiple bonuses.
