cheque from a betting site

Options
Hi all hope you are well.

My brother has just won £50 on a betting site through a free £10 offer no deposit and now wants to withdraw his winnings.

The company is sending him a cheque out as he doesnt have a bank account. (i dont know why).

Now we are thinking he could maybe pay it into my bank account (lloyds tsb) and then i could give him the money when its cleared can we do this if we are both present or what do we need id wise to do it.

Also if that is impossible then can we go to the cheque cashing places to cash it in. His passport is out of date also so we are worried about them accepting a out of date passport as a form of id etc.

Not sure if this is right place for this but need some advice.

Cheers:beer:

Because he doesn't have a bank account for the funds to go to.

Cant register your bank account and withdraw to there shouldn't be a problem. No ID is needed unless the betting site ask for it.

betting site will just send it as a bacs probably.

No because you have to put the name on the card and the billing address to withdraw the money. I dont think there is any way round it.

If you are going to be doing this you will need a bank account. He will need to get his ID sorted and open up a very basic account. Even if his credit is bad the banks will not normally do a full credit check for a basic account but check before you apply. They will just do an ID check. How does your brother get paid? How does he pay the bills? He could save quite a bit if he gets an account sorted and manages his money through an account.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

Could you not pay it into your own bank account using an ATM?

But the cheque would have his name on it etc. Surely i couldnt just pay it in to my account via an atm and that be it?
