Not recieving txt messages when phone turned back on

I can't help with the chinese engineers, or changing anything technical, but why won't my earlier suggestion of just keeping the receiving phone turned on, but set to silent, work for the time being? The text message should come in first time - but not disturb anyone if the phone is on silent. If could be left turned on and plugged in if battery life is an issue. This just seems like a far far simpler way to work round the problem, or am I misunderstanding something?0

Can confirm the message validity description is correct.
Think you would have to reprogram the microcontroller in the SMS terminal to set the appropriate validity. I don't know how you would do that.
Thanks for your reply..Have you any idea what forums might be able to help me with this?...ive tried 5 so far but no one really knows how to reprogram the microcontroller0 -

Due to the amount of money im spending on the system I am trying to get it so it works 100% as planned...leaving the phone on silent would work but if the person who has the phone is on holiday i.e I go to Devon now and then and have to walk into nearest town to get a signal or there abroad and only have signal in certain areas it would only work if there back in an area with a signal within 5 hours before the messages expire0 -

The controller has a serial connection on it of which I currently use when I configure its settings (custom SMS controller side of it) im pretty sure I need to connect this serial connection (I have a RS232 to USB convertor) into some terminal software and enter the commands that way0 -
Any Clues?0

Not an ideal solution, but have you looked at solutions such as http://www.fabit.com/products/mobile/sms/inbound-sms/receive-sms-uk-numbers.aspx
Briefly, you get the responder to send SMS to the web based receiver in the cloud, which is, presumably alway on, and it, in turn, sends the messages to your mobile as well as keeping copies for ypou to check via a PC.
If you Google "receive a sms on your pc" you might find a solution that meets your needs.
It's not a problem that regularly crops up and in hindsight I would not have bought anything that wasn't supported in the UK, but that's water under the bridge unless you have to give up on the product you have purchased.
But check as I have suggested first.0
