thanks0 -
The guy getting recommended here must be flat out! We didn't get an answer from him despite leaving messages. Luckily theres plenty of other good trademen and we got three quotes in with no bother (all from the Pheonix list).0

Folks.
This is my own personal view from my own personal experience and obviously would be dependant on the type and size of job.
Please just be aware that in Belfast this whole Phoenix scrapage scheme or whatever they are running at the moment is not always what it seems.
Whne it comesto claim the money back, it's the installer who claims it back, not the customer... And guess what !!! to cliam it back the installer has to be registered with Phoenix......
Guess what I found after having about 8 different plumbers trapse through my house...... the cheapest guy by a mile was NOT phoenix registered but was registered with Firmus as most of his work was outside of Belfast where Firmus opperate..... And surprise surprise, he was over £900 cheaper than the closest Phoenix registered plumber..... So I guess the Phoenix registered plumbers are sticking the arm in as they know the customer is blinded by the chance of getting £400 odd quid back.... not worth it if they are overcharging you by £900 !!
Just something worth considering!! Just because they are not registered with Phoenix, don't disregard them.
PS. I'm not a plumber, just someone who got really really frustrated when trying to get a decent one!!!0 -
Changed to gas from oil a few weeks back. Had the super fantastic wonderfull firms out who were gonna do a great job and tried to sell all the extras.
Ended up getting a very down to earth guy out and he done a great job for less than the rest. Plus the extras like magnetic filter etc came included in the quote.
He was £2200 less £400 from Phoenix. £1800 was our final bill.
He took out the oil burner, tank etc and carted them away along with the tank in the hotpress and fitted a Worcester combi boiler with magnetic filter and carbon monoxide alarm. Plus 7 thermostatic valves fitted.
The boiler is remote controlled :j
Would certainly recommend him. Look him up as North Down Boilers.
I am in Dundonald.0 -
