            Maizy,
You've been looking for a house for six months or more.
Perhaps it's time to, if not lower your sights, maybe point them in a different direction.
It could be what you seek is just not available in your chosen area.
Winter will soon be upon us, not a good time to move and there's an element of market hibernation anyway.
As each month passes you seem to be deeper in debt, so you don't really want to wait until next spring.0

            Maizy,
Frustrating the likes of me is irrelevant.
 And you haven't, anyway.
You'll probably think my next suggestion is an even worse option, but one of the things about renting is it's not forever.
Nothing to stop you taking a rented house somewhere less than ideal to give you the breathing space to go bankrupt, effectively ridding yourself of all debt, and then look for somewhere for the longer term.
Children is definitely not my area of expertise, but I do think you are being too harsh on yourself - moving area does not make you a bad parent, and I doubt the impact on them will be as negative as you fear.0

Maizy, sweetie, please, please, please do not stop posting. You are not frustrating anyone and I really get the feeling you need this outlet.
Have you tried Gumtree at all?BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0

Gumtree is a good idea. But tread very very careful, whilst there are genuine landlords there, a significant number are scammers. They try and rent property which is not theirs, prey on the people who are low anyway, and appear so very very genuine. Gumtree seems to have attracted a higher than normal number of these scum. Take extra care, and don't send money by western union or hand it over in cash. Only pay any deposit via a verifiable uk bank account.0

Maizy. In a quiet moment, why not consider which is worse. Having arguments and atmosphere with your OH and that affecting the children. Compared to moving to a temporary location whilst you find somewhere long term.
I would then add, that at the moment you are in control, if events overtake you and your forced onto the streets you will be even more stressed. You are then likely to end up in a place you really do not want to be.0

The figure of 700 might be a red herring. The issue is what is the normal price for decent accommodation, in your area, and for the size and boy/girl type of family you have. The OR would use this to take a view on rent. Where I live, and it's not a posh area, the average family home rents for 950, and the OR is fine with that.
At the moment the pressure is on rising rental costs, and quite often they are higher than a mortgage would be. It's a supply and demand problem. The OR in your area will be well aware of the local circumstances.0
