Any inheritance/windfall after discharge is yours to keep - another reason to get the process over sooner rather than later.

...Anyhow will keep you posted when one gets ones act together...

Had one gone bankrupt when one posted on here in May, one might already be looking forward to one's early discharge.

One might have to stop trying to foresee every consequence and just get on with it.

Hopefully someone with experience of the situation will be able to answer your query about the 6m rent and what then happens to the 'rent surplus' you will have during that 6m. I would imagine if the agents would want another 6m in advance at the end of the first 6m term then the OR would have to allow you to put the money by each month to save for that.

There is no 'right' time of the year to go BR. If someone goes BR towards the end of the tax year then a nil tax code may not be implemented. But at the end of the day that's just symantics because you'll pay the tax one way or another, either through wages to the tax office or through a nil tax IPA to Moonbeever.

The right time to go BR is when you make the decision to do the deed, having been advised it is the best way forward for you.

You say there are no private lets, where are you looking?
Most private letters advertise in newsagents or just put a board up, you cannot only go by newspapers.
Where I live there are probably more private lets available than through agents.
You need to get out and about , checking newsagents, supermarket boards etc.

If you look hard enough you will find one.

Also if you see an ad in the paper, ring up and ask if they have any other properties and explain your situation.
You never know they might have one becoming available in the next few weeks.

Stay positive something will turn up.

The problem with br is that more times than not sacrifices have to be made, and although giving your house is one, maybe moving to the city will give you a better chance. I know it would cause disruption, but long term it may give you the break . Holding out and holding out, usually means that something will break.
I know when we went through it the stress was intense, the pressures mounted, how we stayed together I don't know. Money is needed for this, that and everything. The more you work the more seems to be needed.

Don't get into a situation that something breaks because you want to stay in your village. Life is too short. Move away and who knows in a few years time the chance might be there to move back.. As you state there are no private properties , so what will change in the next few months/years?
