  • What about pre booking seats. I have been on AF website site and it looks like you cant book seats until 30hrs before take off. Is this correct?

    TOTALLY UNTRUE
I fly AirFrance at least twice a year and ALWAYS prebook my seat.
in fact just booked two days ago to fly to MIAMI next May and reserved my seats on line.

We are flying Air France next month (MAN - CDG - LAX) and were able to select our seats online as soon as we booked. I know Virgin will only allow a certain amount of their seats to be pre-selected and after that you have to wait until online check-in opens...not sure if AF are the same but that could be why you have been unable to choose yours? Have you tried calling them to ask?
  • You should have asked before you booked.
I flew CWL-CDG-MIA last February and vowed "never again", in-flight entertainment is non existant, meals worst we ever tasted and cabin staff rude if you cann't speak french. CDG airport was in turmoil in Feb and is unlikely to have improved due to the ongoing rebuilding works. Their flight security check-in system is so poor it verges on incompetance, everybody entered the same queue whether you are in-transit or not. We had a flight change over time of 1hr35min. and nearly missed boarding, absolute disgrace and anyone flying Air France should be awarded a Gold Medal.

Take a change of clothes in your hand luggage. Flying through CDG you may never see your bags again... I have a 100% record. Twice through CDG. Twice my bags arrived 2 days later
  • Flying through CDG would be my last choice having done it twice before.

Living in Aberdeen with a c***y airport we are limited to CDG, LHR and AMS hubs although from October we will have FRA.

I was so excited the first time knowing we were going the CDG, however my excitement was soon over once we got there.

Once you get through security there is virtually nothing except a handful of shops and overpriced snack bars. I know airports are expensive but we were charged 30 odd euros for 2 pieces of quiche, 2 glasses of wine and some bread.

I know KLM/Air France are one and the same but I much prefer KLM to Air France. Find the food, the staff much friendlier.

Firstly, CDG is dreadful: large; long queues for the rigorous security checks; horribly expensive. And you may spend a lot of time on buses between the aeroplane and the actual terminal. The fastest possible transit time there is two hours!

The in-flight experience is pretty good. On long-haul flights, even Economy passengers get a glass of good champagne; food is enjoyable and served with a selection of reasonable wines and decent liqueurs; in-flight entertainment is outstanding (there are always about four films I want to see); cabin staff can be helpful if they want to be although they are perfectly capable of ignoring a passenger they dislike.

Seats can USUALLY be requested in advance, but this does not seem to be possible with the cheaper tickets.
  • I have checked online, entered my eticket number but its telling me i cant pre book seats until 30hrs before checking in. We fly into terminal 2e and depart from the same terminal, hope this helps with connecting flight.
  • My fault, just booked seats. but not looking forward to CDG
